Talk about thinking out of the box! Rick Owens’ Spring 2010 menswear collection exhibited a bit of denim anarchy on the runway, mixing textile with leather. Although I am not a fan of patchwork denim and its evil offspring, the diamond-quilted denim patchwork that looks like argyle, Owens has successfully created some interesting looks that could have turned out disastrously; but, instead, the denim and leather are almost seamless together at times, blending — not patching — from light to dark denim, and then finally to leather. I am not convinced I like all his pieces, but he gets bravo points for going out on a limb.
