Can You Zadig It?
The Meatpacking District went a bit Euro last night with the opening of Zadig & Voltaire??™s first New York flagship. Owner/CEO Thierry Gillier played a humble but charming host to a diverse (and sometimes surprising) coterie f guests including Alexis Bledel (who recently moved to Brooklyn). Sante D??™Orazio,Lucy Sykes Rellie, designers Patricia Field, Andrew Buckler and Christian Siriano all stopped by for glasses of champers while DJ Paul Sevigny provided the soundtrack. But it was Nascar champion #24Jeff Gordon who proved to be the most unexpected (random!) guest of the evening??“his wife, Belgian model Ingrid Vandebosch, is a friend of Z&V art director Cecilia Bonstrom??™s sister Charlotte. Another unusual spotting was Indian activist John Trudell who joined the mass exodus that headed over to Bagatelle for an intimate dinner where Gillier and Bonstrom flitted to each table thanking everyone for their support following a warm champagne toast.
Talk turned to the outrageous Sunday brunch scene at the infamous location. ???It??™s like you??™re in Ibiza or something. You don??™t know if these people haven??™t slept and just came in after leaving the club,??? quipped one editor. The sentiment was apt with the diners lingering over their desserts of sorbets and profiteroles until midnight.
