Models pose in the Acne spring/summer 2010 collection last night
SUMMER might be officially coming to an end but last night it was only just beginning as Jonny Johansson presented the Acne vision for spring/summer 2010.
And it goes a little something like this; washed out shades of lilac, lavender, fuchsia, buttercup yellow and indigo diffusing down skinny-fitting jeans, refracted prints on shirts and T-shirts, super-cool fringed jackets and waistcoats (again in the palest of purple suedes or in denim), and leggings adorned in poetic sentiment.
“With this collection there is a change in direction, completely. Something immaterial, spiritual,” Johansson told VOGUE.COM of the new tranquil and fluid – though none the less cool – mood. “I felt we always work with a strong woman so then we added silverwear ” – which came by way of designer Husam El Odeh and his knee plates, bags and reading glasses (which, of course, you couldn’t actually use to read).
“For me it was such an interesting development working with Husam,” explained Johansson, who also worked with CRYSTALLIZED?„? – Swarovski Elements to punctuate the lapels of jackets to starry effect. Their positions also correspond to acupuncture pressure points, relating back to the spiritual inspiration of the collection. And silverplated pocket patches aside, it’s a collection that isn’t without its sharp points – namely the rusty nail shoes, which the models promised were very comfortable to wear.
“I think we took things one step further this season, I want to work more with myself, my family and friends as reference,” said Johansson.
And how would he sum up the collection in three words? “I like it a lot – but that’s five words.” We think we can let him off.
