In search of a high-impact color scheme this winter? You might go the way of the Brooklyn Blonde—a Brooklyn-based blogger with a penchant for gorgeous color combinations. She also loves colored denim, as you can see from her rich mustard yellow jeans below. If you’re nodding your head with enthusiasm at these visuals, you’ll love our three hand-picked favorites for jewel tone colored denim.
Winter is a great time of year to rock that jeans and boots look, no matter what type of boots or fit of jean. With the right pair of jeans, you’ll have months of hassle-free street style looks. For ankle boots, wear cropped jeans or try cuffing them with a thin cuff for a delicate look. Skinny or boyfriend jeans work. For tall boots, wear denim leggings or skinny jeans. They stay in your boots better and are less likely to pinch. Avoid wearing slim or boot cut jeans if you want to tuck them in. You want a sleek silhouette. Now, all you have to do is throw on the perfect knit top or wintry coat to complete the look.

For those of you who have been following Canadian-based Fidelity Denim over the years, you know they’ve been called the butt bra of jeans and have a celebrity following. Fidelity, now distributed stateside, has a mens jeans collection as of 2009. As much as we’re coveting the Spring-Summer 2012 jeans collection (stay tuned for our denim review!), we can’t help but fall in love with the styling in their fall lookbook. You’ll see the requisite skinny jeans, along with a slick burgundy coated jean, flared jeans and even some velvety fine-wale corduroy jeans in skinny silhouettes. Rich, saturated hues along with faded fall shades are at your disposal. Check out the gallery to peruse all the Fall styles.
Last week, GUESS by Marciano debuted their 2011 Holiday Collection with an exclusive cocktail party co-hosted by VOGUE in Beverly Hills. The retro-centric party, complete with “pop-up fashion presentations” throughout the evening and a special performance by synchronized swimming troupe, “The Waterlilies,” complemented its retro-inspired high-glamour evening wear and versatile separates. As expected, classic denim pieces were on display which have the look of vintage denim, but are actually both feminine and luxurious in feel.
At bit more sophisticated yet flirty, the Holiday Collection makes it easy for the professional woman who wants a bit more sass in her wardrobe, from faux fur and sequin embellishments, to animal prints and bold asymmetrical cuts. In contrast to the gowns, the suit separates offer earth hues that are made to pair well with skinny jeans for a quick-change from a day to Happy Hour look.

Are you looking for the best jeans for men that involve fun colors to be worn this fall? Photographer Ivan Muselli produced a pictorial for Essential Homme magazine, entitled “Whimsical Youth,” which features young male models frozen in action styled in vibrant dapper suits and Technicolor streetwear. Fall earthen colors featured withstanding, you get a fair injection of electric blues and variations of red from silk sateen deep red to soft wool tomato in the trousers and jeans. In some cases, the models were styled in white or an acid-washed brown jeans to counteract the loud colors. If you’ve been wondering how to rock some color this fall, we bet you’ll get some style ideas here.

This winter, All Saints will join in the ranks of fashion brands that have taken the military trend and reinterpreted it for the dead of winter. Merchant Marine chic never looked so good. Whatever the case may be, All Saints sure know how to build a wardrobe around black jeans. Combining the brand’s signature denim staples of drop-crotch and skinny jeans for men and women, All Saints sticks to what they do best: make you look rock ‘n’ roll through the seasons. Be on the lookout for a brand new collection of corduroy jeans, alongside leather jackets, over-sized knits and polished wool coats.

For Fall 2011, Current/Elliott has reintroduced a line of jeans for men along with the brand’s successful womens jeans collection. As the brand made its name with its wildly popular Boyfriend and Bell Bottom jean fits, those silhouettes are not going away anytime soon. And to follow suit, the men’s denim also has a few baggy jeans and a railroad striped jean of its own to complement the women’s jeans collection. Unlike the men’s Fall 2011 lookbook, which takes place outdoors in natural surroundings (reminiscent of the first women’s lookbook), the Fall women’s lookbook is set inside a theatre in which the models are styled with various Edwardian-era capes, wraps and top hats. Perhaps the stylist may have taken some liberties from the pages of a Steampunk fashion book, but we do love Current/Elliott’s ability to inspire us through its storytelling mix of modern jeans set against a semi-period backdrop. Italian-based denim brand Nine in the Morning continues to impress us with their ever evolving line of jeans which visibly seems to be maturing and refining itself at an enormous rate. When we were first introduced to this brand last year, it was one of many new denim brands coming into the market, competing for attention. The wheat has been separated from the chaff, and Nine in the Morning stands strong. For the Autumn-Winter 2011 campaign, we see a woman and man in various poses and expressions, conveying what appears to be a play, aptly titled, “The Autumn and The Winter.” The freeing expressions and contortion of their bodies demonstrates Nine in the Morning’s fit and ability to extend beyond normal wear and tear; creating character in its creases, folds and distress points.
If you can bend, writhe and practically do yoga poses in these jeans like the models featured (and still look good in them), then we think these jeans are worth a check in. For more information, go to
