For Fall 2011, William Rastdoes a re-boot with its entire collection, featuring clean lines, minimalistic details and accents, tone-on-tone stitching, darker washes—everything is different. Moving away from its rugged, rebel-cycle themes from previous collections, William Rast is moving towards more classic and elegant looks and fits. The “Dub” stitching, for example, has been transformed from its “louder” former self to a more understated representation of this denim brand’s label. Also to note: William Rast’s denim fits have been completely re-vamped to reflect the brand’s ongoing evolution. For men’s jeans, look for skinny, straight, straight with flap pocket, relaxed straight leg and boot cut fits. For women’s jeans, look for skinny, skinny with zipper, baby bootcut, bootcut, bootcut with flap pocket, flare, flare with flap pocket and trouser flare fits.
Last night after the trade show madness, DT took to the skies (or at least, close to the sky) for ENK & William Rast’s rooftop after party at the Dream Downtown Hotel. As waitresses in back and gray dresses fluttered around with cocktails and smoked salmon/avocado sandwhiches (yum), guests snapped photos and talked style against a backdrop of sunset & skyline. We saw cut-off shorts, a denim cocktail dress, and incredible dapper denim styles Feast your eyes!
There is a trend in the denim industry, and we’re not talking about the next skinny jean. On May 10, denim executives from around the world came together for the first WWD Denim Forum. A key topic which resonated with attendees was about the move towards social responsibility and green technology. “I was pleased to see that so many of the speakers shared future goals and visions for the industry, such as a larger social and environmental responsibility,” says Nicks Ericsson, director of marketing for William Rast/J Lindeberg. Tony Chu, vice president of communications at Hudson Jeans thought there were “a very compelling group of speakers in diverse segments of the denim business.” Furthermore, he echoed the sentiments of many in attendance. “To support and participate in a denim summit, the first of its kind in our ‘backyard’ of Los Angeles, was a no brainer.” According to WWD News Correspondent Khanh T.L. Tran, the WWD Denim Forum, which drew “the cream of the crop,” is expected to return in 2012. To watch more videos from the conference, go to Fora.TV.

Justin Timberlake can do no wrong. He is an acclaimed and famed artist within the music and acting industry as well as the golfing community. He always has amazingly talented and beautiful girlfriends- we are talking about Jessica Biel. And let’s not forget to mention his incredible fashion label, William Rast, which he co-founded with Trace Ayala. The brand has partnered with Target and will be launching in stores and online on December 19th- just in time for holiday shopping. JT is far from being a backstreet boy, he has turned into a center stage man. Now that’s what we call the Midas Touch!
The limited edition (available through January 22nd, 2011) collaboration between William Rast and Target will offer edgy leather jackets, outerwear and premium denim for men and women. The William Rast for Target collection delivers quality, design and comfort in denim. Styles from the exclusive line include skinny, bootcut and straight-leg, all with premium fit, wash and detailing. The entire collection will range in price $16.99 to $199.99.
“Our guests rely on Target for our unique and innovative designer partnerships and the William Rast for Target collection is sure to deliver,” said Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target. “We’re excited to offer William Rast for Target just in time for the holidays, providing women and men with one of the most exciting brands in denim at a great price.”
“Boutiques.com is a personalized shopping experience, brought to you by Google, that lets you find and discover fashion goods through a collection of boutiques curated by taste-makers — celebrities, stylists, designers, and fashion bloggers. Boutiques uses visual technology to help fashionistas discover and shop their look and creates the opportunity for designers to showcase their collections and latest inspirations online”.
If you’re looking for your very own perfect denim style what better place to search and succeed than Googles very own Boutiques.Com . To me, it’s a place where you can mash up your current wardrobe with a wishlist of ideal pieces & things you’re likely to buy in the future from an array of designers such as Alice and Olivia, Catherine Malandrino, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rag and Bone, Tory Burch, and William Rast. It’s nothing like Google has done before- there is no advertising and the imagery is big and beautiful. Basically a 24/7 shopping experience (we never have had a problem with that).
How does it work? When you sign up for an account, you’re presented with an array of questions — almost like a style survey. Do you boot leg or skinny jeans? Would you prefer to wear ripped and shredded denim or clean cut? Which color washes do you prefer & do you like patterns? You’re shown a gallery of snapshots, ranging from celebrity style to street fashion, & asked what is most inspiring. It then runs through your likes and dislikes to pinpoint your actual style. A boutique is then created with a username, examples of clothing, and suggested boutiques you can follow- any boutique can be followed by any user and the more followers equals greater exposure and “ranking” (go stylistas and all of your friends and friends of friends).
There are also a number of celebrity boutiques you can follow- Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Carey Mulligan, Sarah Michelle Gellar… Just to name a few. That’s six degrees of separation for you!
