One thing’s certain, denim lovers: leaving the house in August wearing head-to-toe black is sure to make a statement, but it could also result in a not-so-stylish heat stroke. Wearing white denim, a white blazer, and a fresh white t-shirt however, will keep you a few degrees cooler and will amp up your tan. Below, we break down one style blogger’s look piece by piece.

This Spring 2012 Lookbook from Natural Selection shows how simple great quality denim can be. They have both selvedge and non-selvedge options, as well as light-wash and distressed jeans, so you can get the jeans that you feel most comfortable in. We love how they don’t feel the need to dress up the denim, but keep it, well, natural (makes sense, doesn’t it?). A classic white tee or crisp button-down is all you need to throw together a great outfit, and when looking good is that easy, who can complain?

The Artisan de Luxe Men’s Spring/Summer 2012 Collection has a ton of staple items, but with a twist. By adding contrasting denim, red leather, and fabric patches to white tees and cargo pants, we have great options that can easily be paired with a classic dark-wash jean, just as they show in the lookbook. We also really like how they offer distressed and ripped denim, as well as a variety of washes from light to dark. The real stand out piece for us though is the distressed denim blazer—a modern twist on the common jean jacket. This line is definitely not for the guy that wants to play it safe, but after all, where is the fun in that? Find it at the Artisan de Luxe online shop in the coming months.

Similar to colored denim, coated denim can be a trend that you’re not sure how to work into your wardrobe, but don’t worry, it’s simple! This fashion blogger from Amsterdam looks fierce in her metallic silver coated jeans, leather jacket, and red lipstick. Her black bootie heels top the look off with a really badass, futuristic vibe, but if that’s not your style, you could easily skip the leather jacket and these jeans would still look great just with the white t-shirt. That’s the cool thing about coated denim–it looks great enough on its own that you don’t need anything extra to dress it up, and if you want do want to, it is more than up for the challenge!

As it is beginning to get colder out, it can be hard to find the right thing to wear to keep warm, but not too warm. Thankfully, jean jackets are just the thing to get the job done, and (bonus!) look great while doing it. Wondering what goes with a jean jacket? Lucky for you, the guys over at Gilt MANual have laid it out for us plain and simple!
“What are the options to match with a light denim jacket?
Sunglasses. A white T-shirt. A white button-down. A white button-down with a tie. A blue button-down. A blue button-down with a tie. A pink button down… but probably not with a tie. A corduroy shirt. A flannel. Chinos. Of any color. Well, maybe except bright red. Cargo pants. Dark denim jeans. Light denim jeans. Cords. Cutoffs. A vintage watch.”
