Street Chic: How To Style Denim The Burberry Way

What, wear denim with your fancy schmancy Burberry trench coat?  Yup.  The luxury fashion brand has featured a mini-me version in the form of a very adorable Burberry Boy’s trenchcoat via their own Tumblr account, and we think it hits all the right posh-but-relaxed notes for adults as well.  We just love the pops of classic color against a neutral base.  Want to get the look?  We found a couple of fashion finds for your consideration.

Starting with a trench coat as your base, try a bright colored shirt and colored jeans to offset against the khaki.  Fun statement jewelry or a cross body bag completes the haute commuter look.

What Jeans to Wear with Pointy Toe Pumps

This fall, pointy toe shoes are back!  So, how do we style them with our jeans?  According to Glamour Magazine, a fashion DON’T is to wear fall’s pointy toe pumps with your wide leg jeans.  Instead, pair your cute metallic or printed pointy footwear with cropped jeans.  Whether you agree with this style point or not, do note that cropped and skinny jeans allow you to better show off the straps, such as the Alexander Wang Tati Lizard Print pumps with strappy details, and cut-out details such as the 3.1 Philip Lim Kadie Booties, by not draping over them.  And while you’re at it, take a look at a few pairs of skinny and skinny cropped jeans we’ve set aside for you.

Fashion From Israel: Mandinka Fall 2011 Has Denim Envy

Mandinka, a fashion label from Tel Aviv, Israel, features a majority of their streetwear separates paired with jeans for their Fall 2011 lookbook.  Upon further investigation, there were no jeans offered in this collection.  It’s puzzling that a brand would do that, but it’s further proof that jeans look great with just about anything, whether it be Mandinka’s leather cropped hoodie, high-low hemmed sweartshirts or track suits reminiscent of Stella McCartney’s Nike collaboration.  Having said that, the brand’s chic streetwear separates are both built for comfort and the discriminating feminine city dweller.

How A T-shirt and Jeans Can Be The Best Outfit In The Room

The mistake people often make (not us of course!) is thinking that a simple jeans and a t-shirt won’t equate to a stellar outfit. The tip here is giving a little twist to the t-shirt that you pair with the jeans! This fashion blogger demonstrates by wearing her skinny jeans with what seems to be from the front just a plain white tee—but wait! The cut-out detailing in the back of the shirt take this outfit from plain jane to straight up style maven! We’re giving her extra points for rocking the wedges too, which always create a long leg… and let’s face it: if you’re going to wear a killer cut-out back, you might as well snag legs for days too! So when you’re stumped trying to figure out what to pair your favorite denim with, break out that daring top you’ve been dying to wear and work it!

Q&A with The Queen Of E.vil: T-Shirts To Style Your Fav Jeans With

Searching for the perfect t-shirt to rock your fall denim with? We’ve got the answer! And it’s designer Aimee David, better known as the Queen of E.vil (don’t worry, it sounds way more goth than it is). Be sure that once you don one of her semi-sparkling, pop-color, audacious tops and pair them with your jeans, from acid wash to dark wash, you’ll be fashion royalty yourself. Witty, inspiring, exciting… we love this line! And we got the behind-the-scenes scoop for you in this Q&A…

queen of evil t shirt perfect fall top

Denim Therapy: Let’s start from the beginning. How did you know you wanted to be a designer?

Queen of E.vil: I always liked to standout- in high school I was voted most original- I loved concepts and graphics and color combinations.

DT: Do you have any pre-designing rituals?

QoE: Just to live my life authentically; To let life give me sound inspiration.

DT: Describe the person that represents your ideal target customer.

QoE: Someone who has a voice- or wants to connect with new and interesting people through fashion statements.

DT: Do you have any favorite/least favorite denim trends right now?

QoE: I thought I would like the jeggings from Hue– but I was dissapointed with the fit. I like J Brand.

DT: Any favorite denim brands? Or denim stores?

QoE: Jbrand. I used to wear Paige denim but after two kids loosing and gaining  weight… I just stick to one brand-no time to mix it up.

DT: How do you style your denim and tees? And where would you be going in them?

QoE: Everywhere. We need a nice versatile formal clever jean skirt or denim stretch dress—that’s missing… Snap to it Ms. J Brand!!!

You can visit the E.vil Boutique at 666 Broadway, New York City.
