Japanese brand White Mountaineering is said to be as technically strong as Visvim, and as fashion forward as Comme des Garçons. For Spring-Summer 2012, we see the man as the traveler through the desert, which is a change of landscape from its current Autumn-Winter 2011 collection in which the man braves the frosty wilderness. We don’t know this man, but we sense he is multifaceted; he’s a Bohemian punk rocker who absorbs a little bit of something from wherever he travels. Tribal motifs, Western shirt shoulder paneling, tattoo prints and patchwork denim provide a bit of rough, weathered and storied look that the collection conveys for the man who has a journey yet to take. Designer Yosuke Aizawa found a way to tastefully integrate denim into this collection’s DNA. And you thought White Mountaineering was just for hiking.

One of the hottest and most wearable trend of the season is definitely the western-meets-bohemian look. So far we’ve shown you hot to rock it with bold prints and scantly denim shorts shorts, but now that it’s getting a bit more chilly we figure you might want to add a layer or two. We love this girls take on this trend, so we broke it down for you for some food for thought. Her double denim look gets a cozy revamp with a oversized chunky knit sweater thrown over. An on-trend floppy hat, worn in suede booties, and gold accessories add the perfect western flare without going overboard.

Well,Well, Well. Look at what we have here! Kate Upton has definitely “up” the ante, in this uber sexy editorial for Complex August/ September 2011 issue. An ode to the fabulous pin up girl era, the editorial conveys a sense of femininity that is domineering and strong while still maintaing a softer side, (because living on a farm is no walk in the park). We love Upton’s perfectly coifed hair and brassiere top that leaves little to the imagination, (you can say her cups runneth over) and her denim hot-pants, although not something we would wear on a regular basis is extremely sexy and chic. How lovely would it be if we could all do our house chores while chasing hens and still look this perfect? If and ever that was made possible to do, we’d refer back to this editorial for reference. Pick up the issue on newsstands now.

Fashion Gone Rogue takes us on a lazy summer vacation decked in neo-western looks perfect for the seasons hot hot heat in this exclusive editorial titled Heartbeats shot by Harper Smith. High waisted denim short shorts are paired with a barely there nude crochet swimsuit and vintage-inspired necklace with a hint a turquoise. And of course a new take on the majestic west would be nothing without a dose of fringe made of-the-moment in the form of an acid wash denim jacket over a vintage graphic tee and leopard hot pants. A leather buckaroo style hat and suede fringed ankle boots finish off the look (spurs totally optional).

If Pocahontas and Clint Eastwood had a love child it would be in the form of American model Jacquelyn Jablonski. In this “Beauty Saloon” spread, shot by photographer Jason Kibbler for the March 2011 issue of Vogue Russia, stylist Olga Dunina mixed pieces from Ralph Lauren, Roberto Cavalli, Elie Tahari and Diesel Black Gold to create this bohemian/western inspired ensemble. We personally love the fusion of denim and fringe together, and how the soft colored chambray shirt paired with an embellished cow skull necklace screams, “I’m more than what you bargained for.” Acid washed denim, knee-length braids, Navajo inspired earrings, and A cowboy hat, offset a thrilling spring trend that is sure to wrangle up a few (no rope and horse required).

If you’ve been with us for a while now you know that we love a modern take on western style, and not just because it involves denim. Okay, perhaps that’s part of it, but what we really dig about the current approach to the classic look is the bohemian edge infused into it. This is exactly what we get in this editorial from the latest edition of Marie Claire shot by David Roemer and starring model Hartje Andresen. The editorial features perfectly styled denim looks including everything from a modern wide-leg denim trouser, earthy denim short shorts, and even a trendy short-sleeve denim jacket that’s perfect for summer. Leather jackets with fringe details and a heavy dose of turquoise adorned jewelry finish off the perfect western bohemian look.
