Refinery29′s month of denim may have ended yesterday, but we’re still having a blast browsing the interviews, reviews, and styling tips. Today we wanted to share their interview with Madewell Denim Designer Jac Cameron, who says she owns 500+ pairs of jeans. Her talk about vintage classics and old school washes will have your inner denim geek developing a big ol’ girl crush.
Our favorite quote:
“Wash is the first thing that attracts me to a pair of jeans. It’s a huge part of what I love about denim. Dark, saturated shades are pretty much what I wear day to day, however washed-out, powdery blues are so pretty, especially as the weather gets warmer.”

Rihanna‘s all over our blog, because she’s always doing something exciting with jeans. She keeps the American Flag trend alive, she recently wore vintage Levi’s on stage, she rocks Jeremy Scott’s club kid runway collection in her latest video (see our Jeremy Scott spring 2012 preview here if you haven’t), and now she can be seen in the photography for her latest album in denim overalls and a classic denim jacket. We love this look—it’s a perfect blend of party-hard and straight up farm girl. Though, the look in her eyes tells us she is aiming more for one than the other… wink wink.

At Repeat To Fade, we get the chance to see the Blue Highway brothers (who design Sweden’s Blue Highway line in a small Eskilstuna basement) follow their obsession with denim knowledge to the deserts of Nevada, in search of really old denim. They find scraps of 1880s Levi’s, 1900s Levi’s lookalikes, 1922 Levi’s, tattered and torn (in need of a few months of Denim Therapy). According to the blog, they actually dug these up out of the desert. Is that wild or what? This post is from Xmas 2009, but considering how old this denim is, it doesn’t seem so outdated. Check out the photos below.

Rihanna hit the street recently in one of the cutest outfits we’ve seen in the denim blog-osphere in weeks—a bright yellow button-up top and some vintage Levis (light wash, semi-destroyed). We’ve broken it down into product below so you can get the look yourself.

We’ll be the first to admit, we’re constantly browsing Etsy for cheap jeans and exciting vintage denim, whether it’s the DIY ambitions a super creative designer-in-the-making or straight up hard-to-find retro jeans that our parents used to love. You’re welcome!
Want ‘em? There’s only one pair, and they’re just $40! Buy them here (be sure to read the full item description for sizing and other info).
