After a long, snowy winter of bundling up and layering-on, the most refreshing thing about impending spring is the transition from stuffy to easy-breezy. A simple but effective (and always chic) combo? Skinny jeans and a luxe-yet-simple top, like a silk-modal tank or a crisp cotton button-down. You take care of the top, but we’ll provide the jeans. Have a browse through our favorite 6 pairs of skinny jeans for spring.

Denim veteran Tobias Levine teamed up with the founders of Public School—Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne—to put together a line of men’s denim jeans that are every bit as badass as New York City itself, where all the garments are made. The team works closely with the finest production facilities in the garment district to offer this rare component to their line.
The collection offers washes developed and produced exclusively by Wonderland concepts (a wash house in Kentucky owned by Dick Gaines). They also offer entirely un-washed, raw denim variations that allow the consumer to experience the fabric and customize their own pair through repeated wear. Fits include Skinny, Slim and Straight: PS 13, PS 14, and PS 16 respectively. The numbers represent the ankle opening, creating a clear distinction for the wearer as to which fit is best suited to their body. See our favorite four picks below.

-
Below, the PS 14 Slim fit in Gray Scale wash. A gray-black vintage wash with hand-sand, hand-staining and minor fabric hand-administered vintage treatment on the knee and hem. 14″ leg opening with a 10″ rise. Fabrication is 11.25 oz cotton-poly-spandex selvedge cone white oak denim.

-
Below, the PS 13 Skinny fit in Noir wash. A black crinoline waxed jean with body heat activated fit and wear acceleration. 13″ leg opening with a 9.5″ rise. Fabrication is 11.25 oz cotton-poly-spandex selvedge cone white oak denim.

-
Below, the PS 13 Skinny fit in Black Pig wash. A black pigment spray-over white base jean by hand-application. 13″ leg opening with a 9.5″ rise. Fabrication is 10.50 oz cotton spandex cone denim.

-
Below, the PS 14 Slim fit in Blue Blood. A midnight navy garment-dyed jean with hand 3D natural wear in front pocket entry and behind wearers knee. 14″ leg opening with a 10″ rise. Fabrication is 11.25 oz cotton-poly-spandex selvedge cone white oak denim.

de Chemin Jeans is new on the scene, but their philosophy stems from a problem women have had since the beginning of skin-tight garments: making their butts look better. Whether you’re aiming for more lift, smaller size, or any other magic transformation, this brand says they have what it takes.
“Born from the son of ’70s label Chemin de Fer, the collection is engineered to enhance the appearance of your bottom. Each pair is constructed employing more than twelve pattern pieces of engineered stretch fabrication. On the back of the jeans, there are strategically placed reverse yokes. The waistband is sculpted to frame your shape, and the detailing on the hips is inspired by aeyodynamic design to lengthen the legs.”

We’re intrigued further by their vintage style lines and high-waisted options… so intrigued that we’re going to try on a pair next week and let you know what we think.

Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence seems to have had some denim drama in the knee area. She was spotted walking through the airport sporting two giant holes in the knees of her jeans. Seems like someone took pity on her and gifted her a teddy bear, though we can’t confirm whether this is related to her ripped denim. We can’t offer you a teddy for the tears in your favorite jeans, but we can offer you an A+ denim repair service!

Last time we linked up with Kuro, they showed us a gradient of denim washed, aged, and treated for different lengths of time, and told us the best way to wear distressed vintage jeans was with a tailored blazer and a crisp, clean button-down. Sound advice that doesn’t expire, it turns out, since we ran into them this week and they were keeping with their vintage meets tailored aesthetic. “Denim for the Yohji fan,” they explained, showing us a dapper mannequin outfitted in the customer image. Selvedge trimmed back pockets, top-stitching, and other details characterize this impressive Japanese brand. Check them out online for more on their philosophy and products.

Minka Kelly was spotted in LA wearing a pair of medium wash skinny jeans by Joe’s Jeans, specifically Joe’s Vintage Reserve Skinny in Erika. From the exclusive Vintage Reserve Collection, they come in a medium to dark indigo denim wash with gradual fading and distressing. We found a few Japanese fashion labels that seem to share their own idea of what spring and summer should be about. And boy, are the perspectives different! First, Christian Dada suggests writing poetry and spending late nights out with your punk attitude in check, and don’t mind the occasional snags caused by your spiked denim jacket. On a lighter note, Labrat reminds us of California summers out by Venice Beach where Hipsters and Hippies both hang in their vintage jeans and cut-offs; and finally, Revionnet wants us to think of simpler times while sporting “little girl dresses” or relaxed denim shirts made completely in denim. We sense Alexa Chung may have played a role as a muse in the girly feel of this collection.
