Here’s one way to approach monday mornings: start ‘em off with some mojo medicine! Rihanna’s new video for Armani Jeans was released last week, and it’s pretty hot. We appreciate all of the writhing in white sheets and photo collage sorting (adds depth we guess?), but what’s up with how flat her butt looks in these jeans? And rhinestones on the pockets? Really? Anyway, the jeans might not be at the top of our wish-list, but this video is one to watch.
While we were hanging out in the NEUW Denim showroom last week we had a chance to chat with the brand’s creative director, Par Lundqvist, about the inspiration and beginnings of the line. Turns out there’s a lot more to this brand than meets the eye, and no one tells it better than the man himself! You’ll also see some serious dance moves. See the video below.
We had a blast at PROJECT NY last week, blogging in the Blogger Project (curated by Marcus Troy). We browsed denim, sportswear, and accessories while checking out the intense craftsmanship of some DIY operations on the main floor, shoe-making, hand-tailoring, and beer-brewing not withheld. Check out our wrap up video below and click through to some of our favorite posts, in case you’re just tuning in.
What happens when denim manufacturers go above and beyond systematic manufacturing and begin engineering and customizing their machinery over time as a result of studying improved methods of creating their product? Aside from adding a bit of “artist” into their “engineer” titles, they begin to produce some of the most coveted denim on the market. Such is the case with Edwin Japan, a 35-year-old brand and manufacturer that are increasingly sought out by other brands as the step one source for their own jean products.
The video below is a gorgeous mood board and behind-the-scenes look at some of the mechanisms and workers that make it all happen. This is a must-watch.

Here’s a quick video summary of our time at the Coterie show. Making cameo appearances are Paul from Doctrine, Chris from Stitch’s, and of course, the ever-charming Johnny Pinto (better known as The Denim Guy). Check some of our favorite denim brands, the lights, the oversized letters, and all of the other things that make this show so exciting! You’ll see up-close coverage on the way this week, so stay tuned.

See for yourself!
