If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we love Nudie Jeans—the Swedish denim brand with a cult fan following, honorary awards for eco-friendly design, and an aesthetic that surpasses any mention of fickle fashion industry trend. Their line of solid, classic jeans reflect the industrial origin of denim itself, yet still possess a modern, handsome edge that set them apart. And while their marketing is decidedly masculine, you may be surprised to know that the brand is unisex, and that Nudie Jeans Co. denim looks just as awesome on women!
If you need proof, we’ve got it right here. Francine, MC, and Renee discuss fit, function, and fashion when it comes to their favorite Nudie jeans below.
Renee’s Nudie Jeans: High Kai Black. Available for purchase at in-store at Brooklyn Denim Co., NYC.
Francine’s Nudie Jeans: Tight Long John Skinny Jean. Available at DJ Premium.
What was your first thought when you tried them on? I’ve always admired the Nudie’s on my husband but obviously he is not the only one that looks good in them.
Where/when would you wear these? I am going to wear them next time I go have brunch at Schiller’s in the LES and go for a stroll around the neighborhood.
How’s the fit? I love the fit. They are mid rise, skinny jeans…perfect combination for me. Wish back pockets were a tad smaller. The fabric has the right amount of stretch so they are very comfortable. Overall, very happy with my Nudie’s, they feel and look great.
Michelle Christina’s Nudie Jeans: Tube Kelly Jeans. Available at DJ Premium.
What was your first thought when you tried them on? Seriously, my first thought was “Omg, girls can wear Nudies!” …My second thought was, this wash is awesome, and they feel so good.
Where/when would you wear these? I wore them to all the trade shows I attended this summer/early fall—they’re super comfortable and they go with everything. I wore them with a lot of button-down tops and wedge heels. Throw a few metallic accessories on, and you’re good to go. I even wore them to a few after parties! I just changed up the accessories and top.
How’s the fit? Love it.

April77 is a French unisex sportswear line with an emphasis on cotton corduroy, open end denim, oxford, cotton twill, and gabardine. While you may think pop-colors and acid wash when the ’90s come into mind, their fall 2011 collection tells a different kind of story: one more along the lines of grunge rock’n'roll and oversized button-up shirts. Cuffed straight-leg jeans, dark washes, and worn-in denim jackets are some of the gems you’ll find in this line. They’ll ship the US and their styles include muted colors, skinny fits, raw denim, and Japanese selvedge. Prices range from around $100 to $200.

If you’re a girl who loves to wear your man’s clothes, raise your hand! We’ve all run out the door wearing a menswear shirt (and some of us even go out of or way to buy them—we call it “Jenna Lyons-chic“). Sometimes there’s nothing cuter than a dude’s t-shirt and a pair of cut-off shorts. We decided to prove that using one of the shirts we’re giving away this week from Tokyo Five, the Two Flags V-Neck T-Shirt in Ivory. We dressed up Raffael and Renee in the same style to see how they’d style it and show that this kind of cool is totally unisex.
For her:
Renee styled her t-shirt with a pair of medium-wash cut-off shorts and a whistle pendant from Falling Whistles.
For him:
Raffael styled his t-shirt with a pair of HA-67 jeans and red framed sunglasses.
