1. We’re psyched about this recent Tenue de Nîmes x Momotaro collaboration – they’re running a super-limited number (17 pairs) of 12oz sulphur jeans from 20-year-old dead stock. In multi-count yarn with irregular thicknesses, the grey fabric symbolizes the early 1900s and will take on fantastic contrast the more the jeans are worn.

2. We’re completely obsessed with this ASOS pussy bow denim workshirt—a super femine take on a classic staple. Imagine this with a breezy pastel skirt for spring!

3. Rag & Bone released new zip leggings with a 6″ inseam zipper. Shown here, black coated “seal” wash. Coming soon to retail!

4. Worth a read: the “Tomboy Style: Beyond the Boundaries of Fashion” Book was released by Rizzoli, showcasing bold boyish style (and attitude). “Tomboys are confident, rebellious, and adventurous. They are bold, brazen, fierce—and sexy.”

5. NYC shoppers, heads up! Starting today, A|X Armani Exchange will launch its first-ever A|X PopDown Shop at the Flatiron store at 129 5th Ave (located on the lower level).  Up to 40% off ! This is an exclusive women’s only sale 0n dresses, denim, accessories and outerwear. Full deets below:

1. Tenue de Nîmes posted part 2 and part 3 of their “denim heaven” adventure in LA. The photos are definitely worth oogling.

2. VIGOSS created a melancholy-romantic campaign video for their denim line, and we kind of love it.

3. Ralph Lauren‘s Denim & Supply spring 2012 campaign is a pastel-earth-tone dream. Check out that wide-collar men’s jacket!

4. Hula hoops, bubble-blowing, bouncing balls? It’s Paige Denim‘s behind-the scenes campaign video for spring 2012! This should give you the monday morning boost you needed.

5. Michael Bastian FW12 had some slick men’s denim styling on the runway—our favorite look is a beige cord suite layered over a dark-wash denim workshirt.

1. Miley Cyrus successfully reminded us all why we stopped wearing mom jeans after the ’90s. This pair needs some modification if they’re going to do her any favors.

2. JET Jeans has released three new neon styles for spring: yellow, green, and pink.

3. Aaand another designer with new colors to report: Jimmy Taverniti has a spectrum of great new hues to pick from in styles like the classic cut-off short, cropped boyfriend jeans, ankle-length skinnies, and more.

4. Wrangler Europe‘s latest lookbooks are out for men and women’s spring 2012 styles. They also have a campaign video that embodies the hook of this season: Get Your Edge Back.

5. The Tenue de Nîmes team boasts a recent trip to “denim heaven”, AKA Los Angeles, CA. We’re looking forward to seeing their coverage of the trip over the next couple weeks.

4. Tenue de Nîmes visits the office of Nigel Cabourn and uncovers a gold mine of vintage denim. Feast your eyes. They say part 2 is on the way.

5. Josh Hutcherson is on the cover of the new NYLON Guys Feb/March issue wearing denim, and appears inside the issue wearing Dsquared, Diesel, and All Saints.

Tenue de Nîmes Releases Limited Edition Big John ‘Ruri’ Natural Blue Jeans

Tenue de Nîmes, denim’s equivalent to a candy shop, has released a limited edition stack of Big John “Ruri” wash natural indigo jeans.  ”The ‘slim-tapered’ collaboration refers to the legendary Big John M1002 from 1967 made from a 14.5 oz fabric.”  Other eye-candy deets:  the jeans are made from Kaihara denim with a 25% reduced dyeing method which creates the traditional bright blue color referred to as ‘Ruri’ in Japanese.  Also note the yellow selvage (a tribute to the traditional 1960s fabric made by Cone Mills) and original Delft’s Blauw (Dutch farmer’s cloth) lining.  Only 24 pairs were made.  The jeans go for €229.95.

Tenue de Nimes releases a limited edition Big John in a bright blue 'Ruri' wash.

Inside Denim Manufacturer Edwin Japan’s Well-Oiled Methods

What happens when denim manufacturers go above and beyond systematic manufacturing and begin engineering and customizing their machinery over time as a result of studying improved methods of creating their product? Aside from adding a bit of “artist” into their “engineer” titles, they begin to produce some of the most coveted denim on the market. Such is the case with Edwin Japan, a 35-year-old brand and manufacturer that are increasingly sought out by other brands as the step one source for their own jean products.

This Late 1800s Selvedge Denim Umbrella Might Not Keep You Dry (But It’s Awesome)

If you thought novelty items constructed with denim was a modern thing (we spotted a patchwork denim ottoman in a department store recently that sported “pieces of jeans” with fake labels mixed into the seams), think again! This late 1800s denim umbrella just goes to show that the obsession with denim and desire to stretch the textile into as many areas of ones life as possible is a long-running tradition!

Jet Off In Style! Travelteq x Tenue de Nîmes Laptop Bag Is Leather & Denim Chic

Tenue de Nîmes and Travelteq’s new limited edition cognac-colored laptop bag is the definition of luxe, smartly constructed with clean lines and eight compartments (including one for a cigar!). But the best part of all? It’s not just a fabric one-note. Looking straight-on, you might think the bag was made entirely from vegetable-tanned leather, but you would be mistaken–it actually incorporates denim. The Japanese selvage chambray peeks out in a totally unexpected, but ridiculously cool way. There’s no way you’d blend into the sea of plasticky, canvas laptop bags that characterize most commutes!

1. Rawr Denim posted an awesome, in-depth look into the significance of hand-dyed natural indigo denim, from the Indigofera plant to the labor-intensive hand-dipping process. Check out this video from the post below, of Japanese Momotaro hand-dyed indigo jeans:

Don’t worry if you can’t understand Japanese—you still get to watch the process.

2.  Check out this showroom preview of Wrangler Denim for spring 2012—they’re keeping it mostly classic with a range of blue jeans and some cute fashion pieces thrown in, like a light wash denim jumpsuit.

3. Tenue de Nîmes featured The Ladbroke Grove slim tapered jeans by Tellason in their holiday gift guide/wishlist. These limited edition jeans (less than 500 have been produced) are tapered from the crotch down and feature a handsome slim fit that bring the right notes of industrial and style-savvy to any guy’s look.

4. We hate to toot our own horn, but we’re going to anyway! If you didn’t check out yesterday’s post about the perfect hues of lipstick to rock with your denim, do so! Renee selected her five favorite lipsticks and five denim picks and we paired them for a look that can’t go wrong. Bust out the makeup bag, ladies!

5. The hand-dyed indigo Chuck Taylor All Star converse shoe now comes in high-top, and they were just released a couple days ago. They’re sure to sell out as quickly as the low tops did. They’re available at Tenue de Nîmes.

“50 pairs of the shoes were dyed by the Manabe family from Okoyama – owners of Japanese denim label Momotaro and the Rampuya dyeing factory. The shoes, each of which is unique and hand-numbered, will be available November 26th at Tenue de Nimes.”  (Highsnobiety)

Tenue de Nimes Presents G-Star Handcrafted Baby Denim

Nothing is too good for baby, according to G-Star. You can’t buy your friends love, but you can make them a one-off, custom handcrafted chambray baby denim coverall with thin blue selvage, created from a special source in Japan, lovingly detailed with special Tenue de Nîmes logo embroidery, and then finally presented in a handcrafted dust bag.  That’s what G-Star RAW Men’s Designer Remco de Nijs did for his good friend (apparently) Menno van Meurs of Tenue de Nîmes, to welcome their “new addition” to the team.  We’re certain denim-loving moms and dads are collectively jealous.
