Colored denim, printed denim, coated denim… all of these are exciting and coveted developments in the ever-expanding choices the denim industry has to offer as of late. But one trend we’re all over? Gradient jeans. Also called ombre, they provide 2-in-1 color that fades in a chic and subtle way from the hip to the ankle. Style blogger Coline shows off her black-to-grey pair with some a beanie and black ankle boots. Rock on!

1. Here’s a shirt the dudes will be wearing in spades this spring! It’s the Heritage Research x Lofgren indigo-dyed cotton “Spade Print Engineer Shirt”. Designed according to the silhouette and details of a 1920s railroad engineer’s uniform.
2. We’re curious to hear what you guys think about J Brand x Christopher Kane’s continued collaboration… We’re waiting to see if this one grows on us.
3. Step aside, leopard print… zebra stripe is in! The GUESS summer 2012 lookbook is out, and it features tons of color and bold accents like this animalistic skinny. Stay tuned.
4. True Religion isn’t one of our favorite denim brands, but for spring 2012 they’re busting out a novelty that we’re excited for: stretch colored cords in great colors, like this banana pudding yellow.
5. Eat Sleep Denim examines the current trend of mint green monochrome outfits among bloggers. We’re partial to the hue ourselves, so we’ll be supporting the spearmint movement.

If we were to tell you out favorite outfit of the week was a purple faux-fur jacket, a purple shirt, purple jeans, and purple lipstick, you might scream and run in the other direction, imagining the purple monster of all street style shots, right? Well, leave it to innovative style blogger Kristina of Kayture to make it work. Why does it work? When planning a singular hue palette for your look, take into consideration different textures, shapes, levels of lightness and saturation. While everything here is purple, every piece is holding its own weight. And as not to confuse, when adding the accent color (here it’s silver), everything matches, from shoes to necklace to phone.

Today’s denim tip is all about style: the exposed denim collar, worn under a layered pop-color top. Check out style blogger Hanna’s bold-but-simple outfit combo. Even though the focal point of this outfit is primarily the hot pink top, the collar peeking out at the neckline becomes as important as a statement accessory. After this formula is executed, you just need a sleek pair of skinnies and some chic flats or lace-up boots to bring it all together. Try it out this week!

Style blogger Erica of Fashionlushxx is a denim lover (a girl after our own hearts). She’s conjured up four great ways to wear denim this fall that go beyond the basic skinny jeans/top combo. And let’s face it: when your favorite old fabric shows up in your closet with a fresh, stylish twist, dressing yourself gets a little more thrilling every day. Here’s what she had to say:
“Being a fashion blogger, it’s my responsibility to think outside the box. Whether I’m reconstructing an old t-shirt, or creating an original piece of jewelry, I keep it fresh! Denim is one of my favorite fashion items to play around with. Every season the way denim is worn changes, and I’m personally looking forward to a fall consisting of double denim, denim and fur, and other trends. I love sporting my trusty J Brand jeans, but there are so many other ways to rock denim! Here are four examples that show you how to amp up the denim in your closet this fall.”

Making a gradual style transition from summer to fall is a process easily executed by way of details (though the not-so-subtle process of throwing a big chunky knit sweater over your head is in no way out of the question). LA blogger Jenny Ong opted to ease into the look of fall with a typical summer outfit adorned by black accessories. Her Sold Design Lab cuffed denim shorts are paired with a pastel yellow top, but her hat, shoes, and bag are all inky variations. We’re loving the final touch of bangles and bracelets to bring this look an aura of Augusts’ end.
