GUESS & GUESS By Marciano Spring 2012 Preview Party

We were invited to the GUESS & GUESS By Marciano Spring 2012 preview party last week to scope out what the brand is offering next season, and this first photo sums it up on the ladies’ end! Strong primary colors and pastels mixed with jewel tones, neons, bold prints, and sportswear that styles seamlessly from a day at the office to a night on the dance floor. Prints were a huge focus and came in varieties like floral, zebra stripe, and Monet-esque motifs that met in the middle of casual and elegant.

The denim silhouette of choice? The cropped-skinny jean! Styled with? Sheer button-down blouses and rocker-chic jackets. We also spied a long denim skirt we would love to prance around on the beach in this summer. See below for more, including the men’s styles.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow: Bella Dahl Spring 2012 Preview

Colored denim isn’t going anywhere this spring. The opposite is true. Brands are releasing colored denim in so many choices, it’s becoming almost impossible to pick. One brand that’s not helping to quell this denim-collecting desire is Bella Dahl. But it’s not just the colors that have us craving their jeans. They pride themselves on soft-touch fabrications, meaning you can spend all day in their spectrum of brights and you’ll have both your style and your comfort down. Aside from brightly colored denim shorts, they’re also offering a few wishlist-worthy chambray pieces, like a strapless dress and chambray lounge pants with a braided denim belt. We snuck a peak at their spring 2012 collection and posted some of our favorite styles below.

Korean Brand Washborn Denim Spring 2012 Preview

The second season from the Korean runway hit Washborn, (remember when we introduced you to them late this summer?) looks like it’s shaping up quite nicely. Currently known for delivering affordable and stylish separates right where we want them most, they’ve treated us to a preview of the lifestyle shots from the Spring 2012 Washborn Lookbook (and we just can’t wait for the warmer days to approach, now that we know what we’re gonna be wearing). Below, Washborn talks about the past, present, and future of this new kid on the block.

Collection Inspiration: “This season we were focused on making playful styles experimenting with patterns and texture. We were inspired by what the women in Seoul are wearing on the street. Women here in Seoul are a lot more daring in ways than Americans and we wanted to add that cool vibe to our collection while making sure the styles are still very wearable.
We think a lot of people think bottoms are boring so I wanted to add new details to ours. We played around with pleats, tribal patterns, stripes, drop crotch details etc to bring out the fun and playfulness of jeans. Jeans at the end of the day are not meant to be serious.”

Fit & Feel of the Jeans: “We use premium Japanese and Korean denim so the feel of our denim is similar to what you would find from an Italian mill or any high end denim mill. And our fit is a super comfortable and shapes to the body. We do tons of fits to make sure it fits exactly as we envisioned and that our customers can feel comfortable running around the city in our jeans all day!”

Materials & Price Range: “Materials are denim, silk, khaki, and more.  And prices range from $70-$120”

What’s Next?: “We’ve gotten a great response in the U.S. and hope to continue to expand here. We will be developing larger collections that embody Washborn’s style – and maybe even add Men’s who knows? The sky is the limit  here in the states. But definitely we are committed to making premium denim and cool styles at affordable prices. Our prices have been key here.
People are usually surprised at the quality for the price point.”
The brand is available at these two locations online:

Chic Denim Separates & A Beach House Palette For Henry & Belle Spring 2012

Denim Therapy recently dropped by the Henry & Belle showroom to see the spring 2012 line and were greeted with an instantly pleasing palette of sea foam blues, cute fashion separates, and an anticipated range of chic basic denim styles in medium-to-dark wash. The inclusion of carpenter loops (remember those?), oversize boxy pockets, soft pleats, and front-ties took the line beyond basic sportswear into more versatile, street-chic territory. We fell hard for denim tops, printed with short sleeves and strong necklines, and we approved of an increasingly modest back pocket design (if you’re a fan of Henry & Belle you’ll notice that the pocket branding emphasis has been on a fashion-forward decline). The overall feel of the line was very spring, very seaside, very relaxed and comfortable while still stylish as all get-out.

Pastels, Plaids, And Models Having Fun At The 7 For All Mankind Preview

At the 7 For All Mankind spring 2012 preview, it was evident that pastels, plaids, and classic cuts are strong points for next season. We saw classic dark wash skinnies and straight leg jeans, vintage-inspired flare legs for the ladies, easy to wear sportswear, ombre dip-dye tops, and printed cut-off shorts in great color ways. We loved the boho edge of the women’s collection (a knit scoop neck top with knotted fringe caught out eye) and the preppy, casual feel of the men’s. But our favorite part of the preview was when we had the models to ourselves and encouraged them to go a little nuts—they didn’t hesitate! See the evidence (and the looks) below.

Luxe Fabrics & Rich Colors In Agave Denim’s Fall 2011 Collection

Last time we talked Agave Denim we were giving away two gorgeous pairs of jeans to two lucky readers—but the truth is, whether you win them, buy them, or otherwise miraculously acquire them, owning a pair of Agave Denim Jeans is an experience not to be missed. Designed by husband and wife team Jeff and Lauren Shafer, the brand has what you want: comfortable, chic, luxurious, eco-friendly, on-trend pieces that fit great and go with everything in your closet. We had a chance to stop by the showroom to discuss the fall and holiday collections, as well as get a quick sneak peek at spring 2012!

The fall 2011 line is Lauren Shafer’s first full spectrum collection after her stay-at-home-mom hiatus. A total fit fanatic and a skilled pattern maker, she made all of her own first samples this season—talk about hands on! She chose to work only with hand-picked luxury fabrics, creating a line with 17 different fits of jeans, jeggings, and trousers in both indigo and novelty fabrics, including a gorgeous indigo cord as an alternative to fall denim. Key new fall fits include the “Listo” and “Fortuna” slim fit and higher rise trouser and the Fusta riding jegging (which you see a detail shot above). To pair with these pieces, she designed both fashion and basic knit sweaters in Supima cotton and other cotton blends, as well as some killer leather jackets.

More points for Agave? They also offer dark denim in super soft, stretch fabrics that use less water in the wash process through an “Ozone washing”. Check out the full fall 2011 lookbook for women below!

[nggallery id=785]

In the men’s line, the focus continues on fabric and fit—most fabrics employ 98/2% cotton/elastane to give comfort but retain shape.  Jeff Shafer considers designing an art and works similarly with strictly hand-picked fabrics from boutique mills in Japan, Italy, and the US. He created new finishes and vintage-esque washes in a variety of fits, expanding also into a broad range of super wearable luxury Supima cotton knits and t-shirts, as well as leather jackets and some covetable merino wool sweaters. One of his favorite styles in the fall line are vintage black and colored yarndye denim in muted Autumn hues.

Agave Gold Label also offers limited edition selvage jeans, numbered and signed. This season, it’s the “1930’s rinse” selvage from Cone White Oak, which has the look (but not the feel) of raw denim. Check out the full fall 2011 lookbook for men below!

[nggallery id=786]

Finally, we were treated to a preview of the spring line, which included lots of gorgeous colors taken from the landscape of Mexico and the Sea of Cortez (more on that later), applied to fresh fits and looks we can’t wait to wear. Stay tuned on this one, denim-heads—we’ll show you the mood boards the designers created to inspire this spring collection!

80%20 Delivers Another Round Of Perfect Shoes To Pair With Any Jeans

You probably remember how madly in love we fell with 80%20 when we saw their denim, chambray, and canvas shoes last March. We stopped by their Coterie booth this past weekend and guess what… they’re at it again for spring 2012! Their easy-to-wear color palette and innovative, flattering-on-everyone footwear will find perfect chemistry with any cut and style of denim in your inventory, from flares to cropped, skinny, and boyfriend. We personally own over five pairs of last season’s line, so we can attest. In fact, we wore one pair so much we had to order a back-up pair of the same style. Obsessed? Yes. We snapped a few pics of new styles for you to yearn for—but until they’re available, you can grab a pair from the current collection here.
