We stopped by the Jean.Machine men’s denim launch party in Soho last night at Recess, which took place in the midst of a gallery opening for artist Greg Eason. The jeans were laid out on a table in the middle of the room. The walls were lined with framed illustrations and a projector screen played fast-forward video of Eason’s illustration process. The atmosphere? Laid back and classic-cool, just like Jean.Machine’s denim. The female counterpart to MiH, Jean.Machine was the “it” denim shop in the 70s, and its rebirth is a representation of the original customer: “The man who loves to wear jeans.”
The line is carefully edited to go-to staples in an array of versatile washes (as well as raw options), all with a comfortable hand. The jeans feature key details like unique coin pocket, 17mm silver and copper logo button, 0.8mm single stitch hem, and the iconic Jean Machine label. Within three months of launching, they’re seeing the beginnings of a cult following.
Check out our photos below, and see more photos on our facebook!
Visit Jean.Machine online to learn more! Eason, whose exhibition was a study in mortality, the apocalypse, and the Anthropocene, can be found online at Greg Eason.

Jean Shop has the right idea for advertising outside the SoHo location at 424 West Broadway (between Prince St & Spring St). They know that most people are suckers for small, cute things, and have opted for a tiny pair of jeans to lure passer’s by into their sale! Speaking of sale, it’s going on right now—up to 60% off select items. As for the luring tactic? It obviously worked on us.

We checked out the windows of G-Star Raw in Soho the other day, even though we were running late (we’re raw denim addicts, what can we say?). They were campaigning for their newest installment of “3Denim” and had some promising double-denim styling for men going on in the windows. There were also jeans suspended from the ceiling, turning the whole thing into a retail-meets-art-installation experience. We snapped a quick shot of the blue leather belt worn by the mannequin, because the idea of matching blue jeans with blue accessories sounds deliciously on-trend.

American Apparel, despite rumors of a massive downfall and sexual harassment lawsuits up the wazoo, have still maintained a cult following and the undisputed status of “cool kid in school” since they started selling overpriced knit roller shorts to college kids. We’re not gonna lie, we love the basic color options for styling, and while some of their novelty items will split at the seams after one raucous night of partying, it’s fun to browse and fun to wear. We popped by their Soho shop on Broadway recently to snap some photos of their window display. We’re loving the chambray tops and denim duffle bag, preceded by rows of summer nail polish colors. If one thing’s for certain, they know how to set the mood for city kids to shop.

We’re bringing window shopper back just in time for the gorgeous spring-summer window displays of New York’s finest denim retailers! Our latest stop was at Madewell in Soho, where the colorful decor and spring-y ensembles had us visualizing our escapes from the city in serious style. The front window was decorated in pom-poms and fringe, and while that may sound like a kid’s birthday party, the aforementioned frou-frou was done in a fun spectrum of jewel tones, making it super classy. Outfits included basic separates like denim shorts & lace tops, styled with woven hats and bright cardigans. Favorite accessories included a floral-print silk scarf and denim-textured espadrilles. Drooling yet?

Remember the exciting collaboration announcement between Resin Denim and the jewelry line Made Her Think? Does “flawlessly accessorized denim” ring a bell? Well, last night we had the chance to party with the designers in celebration of this joint venture, along with other stellar fashionistas. The party went down at What Goes Around Comes Around in Soho, NYC. Inside at the “denim bar”, each guest received the ultimate cocktail: a free pair of jeans and a beautiful necklace. Aside from clowning around in the photo booth and mingling with denim-heads, we snapped some photos too! Check them out below.

News, links, sales, and everything else we couldn’t help but share. What’s happening (and totally not happening) in the world of denim now. Got a tip you think we should include? Email us!

1. Refinery29 and Madewell are teaming up for a denim shopping party tomorrow night that can only be described as pure rock’n'roll. Free drinks, great music, the R29 editors on hand to style whatever you buy, and 20% off Madewell jeans. See you there!
2. Got a few minutes to kill? Watch Ellen Degeneres‘ highly amusing remarks on Levi’s new Ex-Girlfriend jeans in this video clip of her show.
3. DIESEL is having a sale on their Fall/Winter line to make room for their new arrivals, which you can buy now online. Step lively, the Fall/Winter sale ends February 28th.
4. We stumbled across these floral-printed jeans at Forever21 this morning and our mouse has been hovering over “add to cart” all day. Nothing “says spring has arrived!” (or “We wish spring would arrive”) like a pair of floral printed skinnies, and at less than $30, why not?
5. We can’t get over the gorgeous AY Not Dead Fall 2011 campaign, featuring Dree Hemingway and a nice dose of delicious denim. It was shot by Sebastian Faena and we want high res prints framed in the office.
