This outfit looks really edgy and emits the aura of “I don’t care but I still look awesome”. Draw string grey sweatpants, a grey knit top, knee high black boots (stepping into Wellies territory), and a big oversized fur-lined denim jacket. Doesn’t exactly sound like a recipe for successful street style photo, does it? So how does one of our favorite bloggers, Juliett of Maffashion, pull it off?…
This one goes out to the ladies who’ll be making holiday party runs from day to night without stopping home for a change (and maybe even continuing the following day… don’t deny that it’s happened to you)! We love the look of layering sparkly, sweet frocks with denim, and in the case of this outfit from the Thread Sense holiday lookbook, managing 48 hours of parties and work (and espresso runs) is a snap with a look that literally covers all bases.
Start with a striped knit top, neutral, in a luxe knit fabric. Tuck it into a shimmering sequin skirt (the scalloped edge keeps it playful and festive). Add a sheer layered woven top, and finally a cropped denim jacket. This light wash number fits the bill perfectly: the Wanderer Shearling Denim Jacket by Mink Pink ($101). Finally, finish off the look with camel colored ankle booties and a showpiece necklace.
1. Polka-dots = instant party, but if you’re just starting out in the layering game, you might want to try something solid for the sheer layered top.
2. Medium-to-high waist is a must for styling this skirt.
3. Because there’s so much going on here, keep the colors neutral (and let the blue denim & pop-color statement necklace do the talking).
4. Hair looks great tossed in soft curls or up in a bun (and you can change your hair as you layer & un-layer for different occasions.
5. When to wear what? The look sans-jacket is perfect for work. The full look is great for a holiday shopping run and meeting a friend for coffee in the late afternoon/early evening. The look sans jacket & sheer layered top is great for the cocktail party (especially if it’s sleeveless).

Where can you find amazing brands like G-Star, Plein Sud, Hudson, Just Cavalli, One Teaspoon, Isabel Marant, and Dsquared2 all in one place? Right here in this beautiful editorial from Vogue Paris! It features Natasha Poly and Sasha Pivovarova and was styled by Emmanuelle Alt. Due to the great variety of brands that are featured, you are able to see a ton of hot looks that you can takeaway as inspiration for your own wardrobe, no matter what your personal style is. Our favorite item from the shoot was the Isabel Marant jean shearling lined jacket, and in a close second came the printed Just Cavalli jeans. Take a look at the complete editorial and become just as envious as we are (trust us, it’s going to happen!).

Without a doubt one thing that makes denim so unique is it’s ability to transcend season, after season. And one key denim staple that no wardrobe should be without is a denim jacket. Its the perfect traditional garment that can take any look, during any season, and give it a perfect casual-cool type of sophistication . We are absolutely enamored with this look by Aimee Song of Song of Style—it’s the perfect example of how a classic denim jacket can be styled into a totally modern ensemble. The denim really helps to break up what would otherwise be a very busy outfit by anchoring the look together. And though it might serve itself more for cooler weather we absolutely love the way Aimee has given it yet another twist by layering the shearling jacket over it. Want to transition this look into summer? Start by nixing the shearling, roll the sleeves on the denim jacket up slightly, and toss your hair into a modern messy bun.
