Happy 2016 everyone! Denim Therapy is officially a decade old. Since 2006 our founder, Francine Rabinovich, has turned a labor of love into a business known internationally, recognized by Vogue, and recommended in the Wall Street Journal. Over the years we have had the honor of working with giants in the industry and our latest collaborator is no exception. In celebration of our 10 year anniversary we teamed up with fellow Garment District neighbor and longtime friend of the company Donwan Harell of PRPS. PRPS’s slogan is Bruised Never Broken and their designs illustrate Harell’s appreciation for the beauty of aged denim. We bonded over the stories distressed jeans carry with them. It should be no surprise that the Denim Therapy team believes with more repair comes more unique character, and the more unique character the better.
We have teamed up with PRPS to create a limited edition collectible 2016 wall calendar. The calendar is made of a 82 x 35 cm swath of 15 oz Kaihara raw denim. It has two brass eyelets for hanging, silkscreened design, selvedge side, and neatly hemmed bottom. Quantities are extremely limited as a run of only 200 were manufactured by PRPS. The calendars will be given to our friends and a select group of loyal customers in honor of our 10 year anniversary.

J.Crew are releasing their own line of U.S. made premium denim, called Point Sur Denim. Fans of J.Crew are gearing up to fill in their denim collections with this exciting release, which offers up options like Japanese selvedge denim that’s pre-broken in in a luxe white and classic blue jeans with handmade hardware.
Their vision for this endeavor? Their website reads, “You know those vintage jeans you go on an all-out search to find after you see them on some cool girl? Well, these are those jeans.” Color us intrigued.
So what’s the point of releasing an entirely new denim collection when J.Crew already does denim? Apparently, they are targeting denim-heads like us. As Tom Mora, Head of Women’s design at J.Crew, told Racked: “We still love our J.Crew denim, but it definitely reaches a broader audience. [Point Sur] is going after those die-hard denim lovers… [We’re] playing with proportion, playing with rise, to make it really unique and special.”

Denim veteran Tobias Levine teamed up with the founders of Public School—Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne—to put together a line of men’s denim jeans that are every bit as badass as New York City itself, where all the garments are made. The team works closely with the finest production facilities in the garment district to offer this rare component to their line.
The collection offers washes developed and produced exclusively by Wonderland concepts (a wash house in Kentucky owned by Dick Gaines). They also offer entirely un-washed, raw denim variations that allow the consumer to experience the fabric and customize their own pair through repeated wear. Fits include Skinny, Slim and Straight: PS 13, PS 14, and PS 16 respectively. The numbers represent the ankle opening, creating a clear distinction for the wearer as to which fit is best suited to their body. See our favorite four picks below.

At Project NY and then again at Project Las Vegas, the men’s denim brand 3rd & Army seduced our eyes with three bold styles that exude rock’n’roll and sex appeal. It’s no coincidence that they make an impact at first glance: Industry authority Matt Atkinson (who founded the brand in September 2012) and all associates in the super-collective have worked for major US brands throughout the years. The relatively new project (100% made in LA) packs a powerful punch thanks to its experienced design and marketing team.
The brand DNA is taken from the quintessential California lifestyle. “Our collection speaks from our life experiences through the doors of 3rd & Army. Our clothing is an expression and a combined statement of classic music, fine art, vintage fashion, and a modern lifestyle in an original way,” says the brand. We expect only great things from these guys. Check out our favorite pieces below.

What do you get when you combine two of the most creative brands together for a collaboration? You get these Naked & Famous Denim x Billionaire Boys Club ‘Bee Line’ by Mark McNairy. In many ways both companies are pioneering fashion towards the new age, with Brandon Svarc leading N&F, and with Mark McNairy (as well as renowned innovator Pharrell) as the minds behind Billionaire Boys Club (BBC). McNairy, while attending the Capsule Show in NYC, hooked up with the N&F booth and made his own personal touches to the classic WeirdGuy fit.
Svarc recounts the tale by saying McNairy came over to their booth and they both immediately agreed to create a collab jean. While sitting on the floor of their booth, Svarc showed McNairy different fabric options and alterations for the denim. Once the Weird Guy fit was chosen, they ironed out details within minutes and created this crisp and light jean.
They added Honeycomb Yellow rip-stop twill pocket bags, a lowered coin pocket, gold and yellow stitching, and a custom gold Bee Line Waist Button. They even reached out to the cult underground Japanese artist Rocking Jelly Bean to create their co-branded leather patch on the back of the denim.
