Katy Perry was photographed visiting poverty-stricken children in Madagascar recently as part of a UNICEF initiative. ”In less than one week here in Madagascar, I went from crowded city slums to the most remote villages and my eyes were widely opened by the incredible need for a healthy life—nutrition, sanitation and protection against rape and abuse—which UNICEF are stepping in to help provide,” Perry said in a statement. Ziggy Denim returns with another witty lookbook for fall 2013. They’re rolling out more paper bags-over-models’-heads on a back drop of tin foil, setting off their wild color palette and diverse range of textures. Our favorites? Bleach-splattered purple-hued skinnies and a super dark-wash high waisted jean for women and drop crotch relaxed fit jeans for men. The “Back From The Future” theme echoes in 90s prints and silhouettes, which we can’t really argue with (so fun!). In fact, everything about Ziggy culture screams “f*** it, let’s party!” We know it’s only Tuesday, but we’re not opposed to slipping into Friday mentality a few days early.

When we stopped by CLOSED to preview their spring 2013 line, one pair of jeans immediately stood out from the rest in the spectrum of Euro-chic rockstar-ready denim and knitwear. A pair of printed purple jeans with a beautiful motif that looks as if it was snatched right out of a Japanese anime (or a Yakuza tattoo parlor). The dynamic design was also available in a jacket. We’re pretty sure this is the beginning of a next-level trend in printed jeans that really transform the silhouette and infuse some imagination into the kind of prints we’ve already been seeing.
