Not all beautiful things grow in the garden, but printed denim options are growing like wild-flowers. Okay, enough floral puns! We’re here to introduce 6 pairs of jeans that have nothing to do with floral print. They fall more into the families of polka-dots, pinstripes, and various interpretations of geometric-tribal. What they all have in common is, you can throw on a basic tee and you’ve got an outfit made.

A simple but effective (and always chic) combo? Skinny jeans and a luxe-yet-simple top, like a silk-modal tank or a crisp cotton button-down. You take care of the top, but we’ll provide the jeans. Confession: mustard yellow is one of our favorite hues this season. It’s a divine compliment to oxblood red and looks so good with jewel tones (we have an Ann Taylor Loft cardigan we literally cannot stop wearing). Taylor Swift seems to be of a similar mindset. She stepped out in London wearing a pair of AG Adriano Goldschmied Polka Dot Cords and a mustard yellow cardigan recently, Starbucks in hand. Confession: we love pumpkin spice lattes too.

According to Lucky Mag, there’s a brand you should stick with if you’re in the market for skinny jeans that have the power to slim down your thights. They’re talking about Siwy Denim‘s Hannah skinny jean, which feature seams that contour slightly forward from the usual side seam standard, creating the illusion of thinner legs. They come in many washes, textures, and styles. Below are three of our favorites to start you off.
1. Siwy Denim Hannah crop skinny in Shadow Play ($228) – buy it at Siwy Denim.
2. Siwy Denim Hannah crop skinny in Fall In Love ($182) – buy it at Siwy Denim.

After this morning’s wintry dose of glam rock, we’re ready to slip into a warmer, dreamier state of mind. Current/Elliott’s spring 2012 lookbook should do the trick, with its distinctly Virgin Suicides-esque cast of bored hipster beauties, hanging out on the porch like it’s their day job. The line features some sure-to-be-best-seller’s like colored denim polka-dot cropped jeans (in case you want to cover three trends in one), a playful denim jacket with contrast piping, and floral print jeans in several cuts.

Are these the new It Jeans? Fiercely independent, Current/Elliott is a denim brand who has been known to set denim trends, so we’re not surprised they have produced muted polka dot and striped jeans—a departure from all the colored jeans coming out. No strangers to pushing the striped jean (remember the Hickory Stripe jean from their debut collection?), this duo constantly finds new ways for us to get excited about jeans. By the way, these jeans are an answer to the neon jeans trend, for those who want jeans that are fun but not bright. Looks like ’80s fashion is alive and well.

Admit it. Men in jeans who wear an apron are hot. Japanese denim brand Factotum seems to think so, too, and it’s highlighted in their Autumn-Winter 2011 lookbook. Inspired by “Caf? Time,” you get more than a hint of the often beguiling allure of the caf? busboy, or the handsome stranger who might be seated alone nearby. Is he a regular, or is he just passing through? Well, at least he makes an impression.
