Metallics are one trend that reappear each time fall rolls around, and we’re not complaining. A shot of pewter or bronze in an outfit can add just the right edge, whether it’s the coating on your jeans or a more dramatic piece, like this metallic silver skirt. What do we love about this skirt in particular? It’s under $50. Worn with a chambray denim workshirt and some serious heels, it becomes a head-turning look that will take you from day to night without a hitch.

When we stopped in for a peek at the Fidelity Denim spring 2012 line during Coterie, we immediately fell for the range of gorgeous blue washes, classic cuts, and more playful elements like pin tucks and acid wash in the brand’s signature Japanese and Italian denim fabrics. The full spring 2012 lookbook reveals an approachable yet sophisticated styling and jeans that are guaranteed to be your new seasonal favorites, like the Scoop Jet Vintage Low-Rise Skinny and the Juniper Jett Bondai Low-Rise Micro-Flare. The Jett Denim is a new addition to the Fidelity line, comprised of 64% tencel (talk about soft!). Darker washes in various fits will blend seamlessly with your fall/winter wardrobe too—and the denim separates, like vests and jackets, fit the year round rotation in your closet. We could go on forever, but check it out for yourself!

Ripped jeans, leather and denim combos, general badassery in the wardrobe… that has it’s place, and we love it. But when you want to wear your favorite jeans or workshirt and maintain some serious feminine charm, there are a few tips to keep in mind for keeping it cute. Sometimes a few pleats there or a bow here can make all the difference, and you don’t have to go totally Minnie Mouse on yourself to achieve the look. See what we mean below, with these three ultra-pretty street style outfits.
1. Denim and lace. As Amy of Wolf & Wood demonstrates, there’s nothing more feminine than a crocheted or lace dress below a white wash denim jacket. This look can be achieved throughout the fall with tights and botos, and in the summer as shown. Don’t forget to cuff your jacket sleeves, and throw in a simple metallic accessory!
2. An impossibly cute ensemble by Bestie K, this look mixes a medium-wash denim workshirt with a bright red pleated skirt, knee length (length is a key player in this look!). She also wears an oversized necklace and some chunky boots to balance out her silhouette.
3. Chloe of Chloe Ting does double denim with a pair of black cut-off shorts and a medium-wash denim workshirt, tied up in the front, accented with a bowtie. Her sheer black polka-dot tights and preppy leather satchel emit a back-to-school vibe that has timeless appeal, and in this case, a little lolita appeal too.

Today our blog editor Michelle Christina is wearing a second-hand denim work shirt (“I found it in a thrift shop during a weekend thrift-shopping crusade upstate!”) with a long pleated floral-print skirt (“found this dreamy piece at SheHEARTSVintage on Etsy“). As for accessories, she wears hand-made Peruvian friendship bracelets, her favorite “conga ring” (shaped like a miniature drum), and a pastel beetle pendant from H&M. The point of this outfit? Michelle Christina says, “bohemian casual.”
