Korean Brand Washborn Denim Spring 2012 Preview

The second season from the Korean runway hit Washborn, (remember when we introduced you to them late this summer?) looks like it’s shaping up quite nicely. Currently known for delivering affordable and stylish separates right where we want them most, they’ve treated us to a preview of the lifestyle shots from the Spring 2012 Washborn Lookbook (and we just can’t wait for the warmer days to approach, now that we know what we’re gonna be wearing). Below, Washborn talks about the past, present, and future of this new kid on the block.

Collection Inspiration: “This season we were focused on making playful styles experimenting with patterns and texture. We were inspired by what the women in Seoul are wearing on the street. Women here in Seoul are a lot more daring in ways than Americans and we wanted to add that cool vibe to our collection while making sure the styles are still very wearable.
We think a lot of people think bottoms are boring so I wanted to add new details to ours. We played around with pleats, tribal patterns, stripes, drop crotch details etc to bring out the fun and playfulness of jeans. Jeans at the end of the day are not meant to be serious.”

Fit & Feel of the Jeans: “We use premium Japanese and Korean denim so the feel of our denim is similar to what you would find from an Italian mill or any high end denim mill. And our fit is a super comfortable and shapes to the body. We do tons of fits to make sure it fits exactly as we envisioned and that our customers can feel comfortable running around the city in our jeans all day!”

Materials & Price Range: “Materials are denim, silk, khaki, and more.  And prices range from $70-$120”

What’s Next?: “We’ve gotten a great response in the U.S. and hope to continue to expand here. We will be developing larger collections that embody Washborn’s style – and maybe even add Men’s who knows? The sky is the limit  here in the states. But definitely we are committed to making premium denim and cool styles at affordable prices. Our prices have been key here.
People are usually surprised at the quality for the price point.”

Serfontaine: In the previous collections we had various celebs wearing our jeans. My personal favourite would be Sienna Miller, however I can only speak for myself in this matter.
