Milk Studios in NYC showcased photography exhibition Picturing Marilyn in the Milk Gallery. The show launched November 9th for a special preview, the same month as My Week with Marilyn, a film starring Michelle Williams (which the gallery’s opening reception celebrated). It was open to the public November 10th—13th, so if you didn’t catch it, enjoy the photos below. Many of the photos in the gallery were unpublished shots by leading photographers, but the ones that interested us most were shots of Marilyn in vintage denim. A-MA-ZING. See more photos of the exhibition here.
“We all know her as the classic blond bombshell. She remains one of Hollywood’s most famous film starlets. She has been photographed countless times by some of America’s most influential photographers- still, Marilyn Monroe’s life has managed to remain shrouded in mysteries to even those closest to her. Even now, new stories from Marilyn’s short lived life are being introduced to a new generation of adoring fans.” (Milk Studios)

It’s the last day of NYFW! We’re celebrating by style stalking around Milk Studios and showing you some of our favorite looks from stylish-passer’s by. From models-off-duty in cut-off shorts with exposed pockets to show attendees in high-contrast cuffed bottoms and denim workshirts, the trend here is clear. Denim, denim, denim! And as the days of wearing short-shorts sans-tights come to an end, people are getting the most mileage out of their favorites. We snapped some of the best styles running around the streets yesterday and we brought ‘em to you. Get inspired by some of the looks below!

We just got back from Jeremy Scott’s spring 2012 presentation at Milk Studios with the likes of Waris Ahluwalia and Peaches Geldof (and some dude on roller skates), and we were pleasantly surprised when the first four or five looks came parading down the runway. Head-to-toe denim! It translated quickly into neon colors, cactus-printed fabrics, assless-chaps and other design details that bring you straight back to a ’90s rave in an abandoned barn… but we gotta hand it to him—some of these womens’ denim looks were ready to wear right out onto the street (and we’d wear ‘em)!
