2. Check out this behind-the-scenes video of Michelle Siwy talking denim right at the factory where her own jeans are made.

And when that time comes around, Siwy will have you covered. Their 2011 holiday collection features everything you need to start the party, starting with your outfit. From velvety skinnies to sequins, hot red hues, and metallics, you’ll find something worth celebrating (or wearing to celebrate in).

The Society Art Series Features A Fashion Meets Art Installation on Siwy Denim

Last Thursday, June 16th The Society kicked off its first event in a series aimed at spotlighting the fascinating world of art collecting. The event was sponsored by none other than one of our favorite denim crushes Siwy Denim, and to commemorate the collaboration a selection of artist were chosen to get their art on using a pair of Siwy jeans as their canvas and were showcased during the event.  Check out some of the images of the event bellow for a look at  how totally amazing they turned out and more. We definitely dig!

Designer Michelle Siwy On Following Your Dreams & Perseverance At C.F.H.S. Graduation

Most of us know Michelle Siwy as the hot New York designer behind some of our favorite denim styles. But before the international success and the highly-coveted namesake denim brand, there was a girl from Rhode Island attending Central Falls High School who, like all of us, was taking her first steps towards figuring out, well, life. Clearly we know how it’s all turned out, and evidently she’s figured out a step or two towards achieving success. And it’s those steps which the designer shared as the honored keynote speaker for the C.F.H.S. graduating class of 2011. Among advice such as never giving up and having a “whatever it takes” mentality, the main point the designer stressed was following your dreams. “I always thought that to get started on my dreams, I’d have to wait until things were absolutely perfect,” she said, “What you must realize is that there is never going to be a right time to do anything, you just have to do it…give life to your dreams. And give your dreams to life.”  We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Michelle!

Style Chat With Denim Designer Michelle Siwy At Kitson

It seems that whenever there’s a major denim event on the west coast designer Michelle Siwy of Siwy Denim has something to do with it. Now, of course that comes to no surprise, after all her designs are a must-have for style icons like Kate Moss. We had the chance to catch up with Michelle at trendy fashion spot Kitson on Melrose where she was helping customers find the perfect pair of jeans and giving them some killer style advice, and we got to have a quick style chat with her too! Here’s an exclusive look into this denim designer’s personal style.

Denim Therapy:  First things first, what do you think it is about denim that makes people love it and want to wear it as much as they do?

Michelle Siwy: I think it’s because it has a stylish yet subtle edge that every girl wants—and the fit and the construction has a lot to do with it, too.

DT: Whats your go-to item of clothing that you always wear with your denim?

Michelle: Definitely a blazer in different styles from cropped to oversized, especially with shorts…it’s the perfect thing to refine things a little.

DT: Do you have any styling rituals when you’re picking out your outfit for the day or an event?

Michelle: I actually start with the jewelry and then that kind of determines the wash and the style of what I’m going to wear. Like, if I’m wearing rhinestones I’ll pair it with something that’s light-washed and distressed—that sort of thing.

DT: What’s your number one denim styling tip/secret?

Michelle: Always try a size smaller and a size bigger than you think you are. Don’t get stuck on “I’m this size.” Dress to what’s going to fit just right, you know?

DT: Definitely! What would you say is the key to always having perfect denim looks and great style?

Michelle: Keep things timeless and classic.

Siwy Denim S/S 2011 LookBook

I know Fall is just getting underway, but who is ready for some fun in the sun already?  Trust me, by the end of all these L.A. Fashion Week events I’ve attended I certainly am!  And no designer has enticed me to fly to some part of the world where it’s technically currently summer more than Michelle Siwy. During the presentation of her new collection last week I received a copy of the new S/S 2011 LookBook and–well, I’ll just let the images speak for themselves, but, trust me,  you’ll wish it was summer too!

Photographer: Emir Erlap; Hair: Conrad Dornan; Make Up: Tracy Alfajora; Models: J.P. and Zen, IMG Models

Enticing,  right? One things for sure, your summer will not be complete without a pair of Siwy denim cut-off shorts. And can we talk about those amazing wide-leg jeans? I know I’ve said it before, but if there’s one thing that is a must-have for Spring and Summer its a pair of wide-leg jeans–you might as well just make them a pair of Siwys!

Are you loving Siwy Denim?  Want to know more?  Stay tuned for an inside look into the mind behind the brand, Michelle Siwy herself! And if you missed it, be sure to take a look at my coverage of the Siwy Denim S/S 2011 launch party!
