4. Can’t wait to see this! J Brand is planning to open its first flagship stores in the next 15 months in New York and London.
5. Get your hands on David Bitton’s new premium denim line, aptly named DAVID BITTON, for clean, sophisticated (and oh so colorful) jeans.

Madonna was seen sporting some heavily shredded denim on the streets of Midtown Manhattan. And don’t be mistaken because this is no flashback to her ’80s heyday. The 52 year old pop icon (still fashionable as a teenager) donned a fedora hat, shades, a leather jacket, and a tar tan top to complete her “Ripper” by Members Only thrashed jeans grunge look. At least we know she will always stay true (blue) to her Material Girl ways.

There are two things that we can’t get enough of: denim and the people who rock it with iconic style. And we can’t think of anyone that has single-handedly impacted pop culture and the world of fashion to an iconic degree other that Madonna. In the latest issue of Out Magazine we get a never before seen look at the pop star in an vintage editorial rocking a heavy dose of double denim. An oversized denim jacket and distressed, high-waisted, cuffed jeans accessorized with chain and studded belts anyone? Who knew mom jeans could look so rad? Apparently Madonna did. The images were captured by photographer Richard Corman back in 1982 just a year before the material girl released her first album. The rest is, well, history and we love it!

By now I’ve made it quite evident that I fancy the nineties. So, when I came across an image of PlayMe Jeans during the Joyrich S/S 2011 show during L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios that exuded nothing but the nineties I definitely had to look into it, and all I have to say is the following: sometimes less is more, but with PlayMe Jeans more is definitely more.

Where you expecting grunge? We’re leaving that look for the guys this time. As for the ladies, let’s not forget that the nineties also had a bit of posh and sex appeal—think more Madonna during her Jean Paul Gaultier days and incorporate the slightest bit of grunge. From body-conscious leather corset tops (minus the pointed conical cups), some slightly higher-waisted silhouettes, sheer tops with contrasting bras showing through, and splashes of the iconic Gaultier gold, it is all there. Finish it off with combat boots and touches of ditsy florals, and in true “classics with a twist” fashion we get a modernized nineties look.

Are you fancying the nineties just as much as I am? Then stay tuned, you wont want to miss my look into Joyrich S/S 2011 during L.A. Fashion Weekend 2010!
