Get The Look: Floral Denim Paired With A Black Blazer

It’s probably our chilliest spring in years here in NYC, which raises the question of whether to dress for mid-day sun and heat, or morning/evening cool breezes and shade. A happy medium is a simple look pairing spring floral print jeans with a knit top and a black blazer, allowing you to remove layers and add them again as needed. Le Blog de Betty has always been a great source of layering inspiration, and this floral denim jeans look is now exception. Get this functional and stylish spring look below.

Le Blog de Betty Dresses Down Margiela x Opening Ceremony Leather-Shinned Jeans

When we first saw MM6 Maison Martin Margiela x Opening Ceremony’s grey skinny jeans (topped off with some badass leather shins) we automatically knew they’d be perfect for Margiela’s dream girl about the town to wear, bedecked in her go-to edgy black separates. So it’s refreshing to see Betty from Le Blog de Betty pairing these pants with a lumberjack plaid shirt and tan booties for a more casual look–definitely not the expected route, but still totally rocking.

Street Style: Red Metallic Jeans & Oversized Sweater

Who knew cozy and rock-n-roll could work so well together? Le Blog de Betty does it again with a pair of ASOS Metallic Coated SkinnyJeans ($90.90) and a big comfy-looking oversized grey sweater. She chose to cap off the look with a pair of leopard print bootie heels and a silver hair bow (we’d lose that bow, but she gets a free pass on this one, since she’s usually on the money with styling).  For an extra punch, pair the red jeans with something that compliments them, like a cobalt blue cashmere sweater.

Street Style: The Right Way To Wear Metallic Blue Jeans

Take a hint from French style blog Le Blog de Betty when you pull on your metallic jeans this holiday season—go for neutral, dark, non-intrusive hues when styling the rest of the outfit, and if you want to make a high-contrast impression, go for black. Betty pairs her ASOS foil snake skin print metallic blue skinny jeans ($80.86) with a textured, fuzzy black sweater, black wedges, and a black bag.  The result is an outfit that showcases the jeans. So instead of looking costume-y, they look tres chic.

How To Make Denim-On-Denim Super Cute & Feminine!

We love the double-denim look on both guys and gals, but it can get a bit industrial with all of that blue jean in the mix. So, how do you soften the look and make it cute enough to wear on a first date? Take a hint from Le Blog de Betty, one of our favorite fashion bloggers! She paired this pair of adorable ballerina slippers (complete with bow) with her Lee jeans and denim workshirt. The result? Très jolie!

Le Blog De Betty: Skinny Jeans & Ethnic Prints

Ethnic prints are all the rage, and blogger-darling Le Blog De Betty is more than happy to jump on the bandwagon with a recent street style snap. Vivid and loud, yet muted in color, the outfit includes a Navajo-patterned t-shirt from WkShp Clothing, bronze coated skinny jeans from Lee Anglomania, and the very-cool black & white contrast sandals from the H&M Against Aids collection. This is something we might wear towards the end of the summer (right now it’s over-90 in NYC, most of us cannot even imagine wearing jeans… poor Renee & Gordon!). None the less, this styling is red-hot.

Le Blog de Betty: Destroyed Denim Cut-Offs with Spiked Studs – The Most Rock’N’Roll Shorts On Earth?

How rock’n’roll can you go? Betty of Le Blog de Betty recently posted up her destroyed-denim cut-offs that are flanked by rows of large spiked-studs. Something we’d imagine a modern-day Nancy Spongeon wearing. We have to wonder if, while casually walking and swinging her arms just slightly, she might become a fashion victim (in the need-a-bandaid sense). But we imagine Betty has acquired a dedication to looking cool that even a couple scrapes and cuts can’t know down. Let’s just hope she doesn’t fall off her bike sideways.

It looks like you’ll have to DIY these bad-boys, because for the moment, they’re sold out everywhere.

Street Style: Sheer Denim

We love a well-placed dose of confidence translated into a sexy piece of denim, and we can’t think of a better way to do it than with these amazing sheer-panel jeans. An oversized grandpa cardigan and studded camel bag gives this outfit the perfect touch of chic demure, but we love how the platform ankle boot keeps this outfit on the edgy side. Want to get really edgy? Trade in the cardigan for a  moto-style leather jacket and throw in a killer clutch and your ready for a night out in the city.

Score a pair of these sheer-paneled jeans? We love these Siwy Denim Sophie jeans.

Denim & Metallics for New Year’s Eve Outfits that Shine

As Balmain reminded us repeatedly over the past year, metallics and denim are a match made in heaven. Whether it’s sparkles, studs, or a sleek panel of metallic mesh, this accent can turn a basic denim garment into something extremely festive (or totally badass). This New Year’s Eve, it’s time to toss the frou-frou cocktail dress and let the room know you’re there to party! Check out some of our favorite ways to wear metallic accessories and accents with your denim.

1. French fashion blogger extraordinaire Betty of Le Blog de Betty kicks around in some metal-toe boots by OFFICE (?95) – buy them at OFFICE.

2. It makes a lot of sense to turn to the makers of denim classics themselves to turn out compatible accessories to help illuminate your look. A metallic belt is functional, eye-catching, and sure to serve you well into the new year. We love this 1-SNAP-A belt by Diesel ($130) – buy it here.

3. Steal the show in this velvet vest with metallic thread embroidery and mirror detail! The ornate piece goes perfect with a pair of ripped cut-off jean shorts. Nasty Gal had this Marrakesh version for sale and it’s since been sold, but you can DIY, scour vintage shops, or try this gold-embellished nude bolero at $108.

4. New York-based glamour-expert and blogger-gone-style-icon The Glamourai layers with a metallic sequin cardigan over a pair of Hudson jeans. Metallic sequin blouse by Elizabeth and James ($185.50) – buy it at Beso.

5. The luxe golden accent jewelry and accessories at Chanel work perfectly when applied to denim. Pile on the bangles, jewels, and rings while keeping your denim attire simple to make a bold statement. Seen here via the Cherry Blossom Girl. Try these Giles & Brother golden bracelets ($168) from Net-A-Porter, or a Kenneth Jay Lane Double Cross Cuff ($231) from Shop Bop. For party goers on a budget, this beautiful Pelle Filigree Cuff ($20) from Alloy.

6. Taking #3 a bit further, Dries Van Noten SS/11 shows us that layering textured metallics on top and pairing with a pair of jeans creates a look that encompasses the spirit of partying in luxury and the careless vibe of downtown new york city. Image from JAK & JIL BLOG. Try this Diane Von Furstenberg ($545) from Cusp, paired with this VINCE sequin tea in antique gold ($295) from Revolve Clothing. Or try this eye-popping (and exceedingly affordable) Wet Seal variation in red.

With these styling tips and a whole universe full of after-Christmas sales, you’ll be able to rock party-tailored denim on the big night out and turn heads all year long.
