We stopped by the Jean.Machine men’s denim launch party in Soho last night at Recess, which took place in the midst of a gallery opening for artist Greg Eason. The jeans were laid out on a table in the middle of the room. The walls were lined with framed illustrations and a projector screen played fast-forward video of Eason’s illustration process. The atmosphere? Laid back and classic-cool, just like Jean.Machine’s denim. The female counterpart to MiH, Jean.Machine was the “it” denim shop in the 70s, and its rebirth is a representation of the original customer: “The man who loves to wear jeans.”
The line is carefully edited to go-to staples in an array of versatile washes (as well as raw options), all with a comfortable hand. The jeans feature key details like unique coin pocket, 17mm silver and copper logo button, 0.8mm single stitch hem, and the iconic Jean Machine label. Within three months of launching, they’re seeing the beginnings of a cult following.

We never needed to give any reason to celebrate denim; But now we have two: the Henry & Belle launch party at the Blues Jean Bar in Santa Monica this Saturday (see invite for details) and Kourtney Kardashian, who loves the brand and wants YOU to rock her fav jeans too. The reality show star paired the “Ideal Super Skinnies” in Superior wash with a classic white tee and riding boots while shopping in New York City (see below for her simple but cute outfit). Don’t forget to pick up a pair and send us pictures of how you would personally style them!

Earlier this month, d.brand threw a stylish rager at Gunbar in the meatpacking district to celebrate the launch of their line in New York. We were there, and we gotta tell it like it is: Beautiful. Swedish. Girls. Everywhere. As we told you previously, Gunbar linked up with d.brand in a nightlife x clothing partnership, and now their entire staff rock custom designed d.brand jackets clothing while they work. We snapped some party pics to bring the fun back home to our readers—so sit back and enjoy the madness, sans-hangover.

Last night we were graciously invited to Jean Prouvé by G-Star RAW for Vitra pop-up shop opening party in NYC, featuring super slick, modern furniture designs displayed on raised diagonal platforms inscribed with product names and details. An few opening words were said by G-Star’s global brand manager Shubhankar Ray, who explained that this furniture would wear and ease into the lives of its owners much like raw denim does. While guests sipped champagne and viewed the pieces, videos of the designers and the process of the project were displayed on screens around the room, along with denim garments draped and hung near some of the furniture.
We’ll break it down for you. Jean Prouvé is a highly acclaimed French designer/architect who has accomplished much in the realm of furniture and industrial design. Vitra is a furniture company with the mission of providing inspiring and durable solutions for the home and office. And leading raw denim brand G-Star RAW… well, they don’t need much introduction. The combined efforts of these three key players in design has resulted in a product that touches on all three brands’ endeavors and still manages to appeal as lighter than air. This is furniture for the future.

The French know how to party (come on, it’s where champagne was first made!), and apparently they also know a thing or two about wearing denim. The Antidote Magazine launch party in Paris this past November gathered a veritable mass of denim-wearing pretty young things to dance, drink, and show off their denim styling skills. The result (for those not fortunate enough to witness the madness first hand) was this video—a minute and forty-three seconds of denim eye candy and below-the-belt camera stalking, spliced with smiling faces and party-goers browsing the pages of Antidote (a massive 358 page hardcover book).
