We’re into low-effort, no-effort style, being busy New Yorkers and all, but that doesn’t mean we’re prepared to sacrifice style for convenience. That’s why we’re totally in love with the newest line released from premium denim brand Joe’s Jeans, “Off Duty“. The capsule collection “combines comfort with the chic street-styles seen in Milan, Paris and New York,” and it doesn’t miss the mark. Who doesn’t want to capture the style of a chic model between shows, or a stylish celebrity strolling through the airport? The collection’s legging selection translate directly into comfort and that casual-cool look we’re always chasing.
“Our Off Duty collection is all about combining fashion with function. It’s a chic and edgy take on activewear for the busy girl-on-the-go,” commented Joe Dahan, founder and creative director. Shop this collection at JoesJeans.com, and check out the super cute lookbook below.
You know the scenario… it’s mid-spring, you’re psyched for your first day in weather-appropriate spring attire, and you knock your latte over right in the lap of your new white jeans. Sound familiar? We know, we’re cringing too. That scenario is enough to make you swear off wearing white forever! But Joe’s Jeans has a solution: a stain-proof white denim collection dubbed Spotless. The collection tagline urges customers to “play dirty” but “stay spotless”. Elle did a good job getting us psyched, but we’re waiting for the video of models wearing the white skinnies, cut-off shorts and cropped pants, dousing themselves in coffee, soda, and wine.
Joe’s Jeans released their spring campaign in a new video titled “Just A Perfect Day”. The protagonists are liberated New Yorkers who live against the grain of society’s standards, which in some cases means becoming a runaway bride (with jeans hidden below a wedding dress), and doing the morning “walk of shame”, without any shame at all. Joe’s wants to encourage their customers to let go of the standards for how we should be living, and start living up to our own personal standards. What does that mean? Well, we suspect it might cause a few cab riders to veer off course and do what they really want to do with their day.
If you’re into boyfriend/drop-crotch jeans but don’t want to go outside looking like a Gwen Stefani fan from the early ’90s, there’s a way to pull off the look in a sophisticated fashion.
Redbook says, “Boyfriend jeans (baggy and cuffed) are the trendiest right now but can be sophisticated, too — just avoid the torn, ultra-distressed, low-rise styles that scream “teen.” They’re also versatile: Dress them up with a tailored shirt and heels or down with flats and a favorite tee.”
Maybe you’ll want to wear pink jeans for Valentine’s Day or maybe not. But, with spring coming around the corner, this cheery hue can evoke so many thoughts: a stroll through a botanical garden, eating cake or even looking up at a neon sign while out with friends—you’re all looking fabulous of course, in your denim. Want to find your perfect pair of pink jeans? From mid-rise to ankle skinny jeans, we think we found a few.
If you recall, Denim Therapy covered Joe’s Jeans’ Spring Lookbook, and now their Summer Lookbook featuring jeans for women and men are out. Instead of pastels, expect to see more color variations in the collection, such as deeper earthen tones, large floral, bleached out and rocker-chic printed jeans. We’re already a bit obsessed with their ikat printed jeans for women, even as the men’s jeans remain relatively tame by comparison. However, a stand out is a brown jean that will insert itself into the male consciousness soon enough. Check out the gallery to view some of our favorite picks.
What was your first thought when you tried them on?
I’m pretty mesmerized by the color, so I was hoping as I tried them on that the light hue of the jeans wouldn’t make me look heavier (I know this is a concern for a lot of denim shoppers), but I don’t think they do! I think they look awesome. So I was reeeeally glad about that.
Where/when would you wear these?
You might think these are spring-only because of their color, but imagine pairing these with a chunky sweater and cute boots in the winter! The denim is thick enough to be a cool weather fabric, and I think they’re more versatile since they’re desaturated. I’d say these are all-year-round jeans. Right now I am obsessed with the way they look worn with 80%20 shoes (shown here).
How’s the fit?
Super skinny, they feel pretty tight (I think it’s safe to say they run about 1/4—1/2 small in size). But they are mid-rise and there’s no discomfort around the waist band. After wearing them a couple times (sans-wash) they fit like a glove. Highly recommended!
The Joe’s Jeans spring 2012 lookbooks for men and women are out, and it looks like a clean, casual look is in order. The women’s line is a bit more rock’n’roll with some ripped open knees and dangerously short hemlines. Even well-behaved silhouettes like the high-waisted dark wash skinny and fire-red flare-leg are oozing sex appeal. The men’s line plays it more safe, with preppy colors, nautical stripes, and some great basics knits.

Printed jeans are in full force this season, and Joe’s Jeans is out to show us how we can rock their latest Printed Denim Collection for Spring 2012. Expect to find floral jeans inspired by interior design and Pop Art; a tribal print, a muted leopard jean and a snake print skinny. Famed photographer Tao Ruspoli was commissioned to shoot this short film, featuring models strutting around a mansion, really nailing the fierce printed jeans look. Creative Director, Joe Dahan shares, “This collection is very playful yet sophisticated. We drew inspiration from impressionists and other art forms including music, the streets, nature and interior design.” His favorite print, Electric Blue Pop Art Daisy, blends abstract and pop art elements for a high fashion statement piece.
