Agave Denim is coming back strong for spring in both the men’s and women’s lines, with their signature rich colors and innovative denim fabrics (remember their gorgeous fall 2011 line?). Husband and wife team Jeff & Lauren Shafer took their inspiration palette from the Sea of Cortez and trips they made to Baja in the ’60s and ’70s. The dream vacation inspiration shines through in delicious hues and resort-esque styling. The “West Coast Luxury” motto of the spring line leaves behind age restrictions and trend-chasing for something more universally applicable (and appealing): “ones inner confidence and ability to enjoy the simple beauty of life.”
They source only the finest Japanese, Italian or USA-made Supima cotton denims and luxury fabrics and work with select boutique mills to design exclusive fabrics. With Jeff’s denim-obsessed eye for unique, high quality textiles and Lauren’s intense pattern making background and precise fitting fanaticism, the two of them have created a line that redefines the spring wardrobe (or maybe just reinforces what it should have been all along).
Keep up with Agave online and on facebook, and stay tuned for some exclusive inspiration boards right from the design offices of Lauren & Jeff Shafer…

The Fall 2011 Mens Collection from the Italian brand JFour has all the clothes you need for an edgy, but put together look. The denim is not limited to just their jeans, but a rich dark-wash chambray workshirt, and a great denim blazer that can casually dress up any outfit. Their long-sleeve knits portray Native American imagery, which is a definitely change from the usual print interpretation we see of this trend, but the graphics can be a bit loud. The jeans range from light to dark washes, so it is super easy to pair them with one of the work shirts or the blazer and rock the denim on denim look without matching too much. Next time we’re overseas, we know right where we’re headed.

Italian-based denim brand Nine in the Morning continues to impress us with their ever evolving line of jeans which visibly seems to be maturing and refining itself at an enormous rate. When we were first introduced to this brand last year, it was one of many new denim brands coming into the market, competing for attention. The wheat has been separated from the chaff, and Nine in the Morning stands strong. For the Autumn-Winter 2011 campaign, we see a woman and man in various poses and expressions, conveying what appears to be a play, aptly titled, “The Autumn and The Winter.” The freeing expressions and contortion of their bodies demonstrates Nine in the Morning’s fit and ability to extend beyond normal wear and tear; creating character in its creases, folds and distress points.
If you can bend, writhe and practically do yoga poses in these jeans like the models featured (and still look good in them), then we think these jeans are worth a check in. For more information, go to Nine in the Morning online.

“Jeans are like pasta … you can interpret them differently each time and play with the accessories … wear them with flip-flops if you want comfort, or heels if you want to look sexy. For the collection I thought about what would enhance women [and] about what I liked.”
—Naomi Campbell, who is about to launch a line of jeans for Fiorucci.

On the prowl for vintage denim finds? We always are. This quirky & clean-cut denim jacket, emblazoned with a crest patch that reads “Ville de Nice”, is the newest item on our radar. Its seamline pockets and snap closure add function and charm, while the Though pictured on a female model, we know this would do wonders for a gent’s ensemble, especially if worn open, sleeves cuffed, with a nautical striped shirt beneath. Voila!

Italian fashion label JFour seems to be making progress on the online and U.S. launch of their latest collection of jeans, which is known for its clean lines with colorful contrast seam and top-stitching on women’s jeans, and classic tailoring with horizontal whiskering on men’s jeans. The moderately-priced line ($69-$130) just launched its Facebook Fan Page today, which contains a sneak preview (below) of what’s to come. No word indicating what’s to come for men’s jeans, so we’ll all have to stay tuned. In a world of fast-fashion and social media, we only hope that their online presence (JFour.it) moves along as fast as their ability to provide on-trend pieces to suit the denim consumer’s fickle appetites. In the meantime, you can purchase JFour’s current Fall-Winter collection online at YOOX.
