Raleigh Denim is the hot topic of conversation in the denim industry, fresh off the launch of their first downtown NYC denim boutique and a gorgeous spring 2013 presentation. While the buzz of having an in-house ferris wheel and insane interior architecture is keeping them on the tongues of every denim-lover in town, there’s also a matter of amazing new styles we can’t wait to get our hands on. A spectrum of dark-wash high waisted jeans and jean shorts for women are imminent. Some styles are softer and more romantic, while others are as crisp as can be.
Stay tuned for photos from the Raleigh Denim NYC store opening party & more from their SS13 line.

Renee reviewed her pair of Doctrine Jeans high-waisted dark wash skinnies last week, and she loved them. Our blog editor Michelle Christina felt similarly, citing an amazing fit, comfort, and appealing wash as three reasons she’d wear them every day. After hanging out with Doctrine at the past few NYC trade shows and getting a feel for the line, we’ve begun to fall hard for their superior quality denim and fashion-forward silhouettes. MC provides the details below.
What was your first thought when you tried them on? It was my first time trying on Doctrine, so I was excited—I knew they were going to be amazing after getting my hands all over their jeans at Project and ENK. The feel of the fabric is crisp with a bit of stretch, but their luxurious and comfortable.
Where/when would you wear these? I love wearing them with a blazer like I did for this shoot. This winter I’d tuck a jewel tone blouse into them and wear some heeled boots or metallic flats. Big chunky jewelry also works super well with mid-to-high rise silhouettes.
How’s the fit? Just amazing. They’re the first pair of high-waisted jeans I’ve tried on that really flatter my figure. They’re designed for keeping it classy (and hide the right flaws).

Wondering how to wear your new pair of high-rise chambray pleated pants? While these may have been classified as “mom jeans” not long ago (yes, before NYLON Magazine said “mom jeans” were cool and changed the way we wear pants for the next ten years), they’re now the ultimate on-trend pants of the season. And since we don’t think this style will be going anywhere next season either, start gathering your styling inspiration! Jenny O. wore them with a rolled hem, slashed-sleeve white knit sweater (DIY this, ladies), and a bright tie-dye scarf that accentuates the vibrant blue of the denim. The black boots and bag make it relevant for fall. We love this look!
