We love the “less is more” design philosophy, especially when it comes to jeans. It’s always refreshing to find a pair of jeans free of bells-and-whistles, that emphasize beautiful fit, carefully selected fabrics, and artisanal washes. Eugene Is My Middle Name is one of those brands, and their fall/winter 2012 lookbook features some gorgeous brights for the cold weather season. If you’ve been hesitant to wear light wash denim, white jeans, or metallics in the past, these styles should help you tip the scales in the other direction.
See four of our favorite looks below, including a pair of hand-sanded Italian denim ombre skinnies, bleached-out light wash, gold metallic hand-gilded and Japanese cotton jeans.

Taylor Swift was spotted in New York City recently wearing a pair of Joe’s Jeans gold/yellow high-rise shorts and a varsity jacket. She toted her guitar in one hand and hid behind sunglasses while filming her new music video, “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together”.

In contrast to Closed‘s Fall 2012 collection, which incorporates subdued splashes of colored denim and separates, the Winter collection kicks it up a notch with bolder and brighter blues, magenta (an emerging trendy color right now), softened greens and purples, which dot the men’s collection. For the women, expect to find bronze and silver jeans along side their colorful gem colored jeans. Of course, you can sift through their requisite collection of indigo and grays for winter—all in slim and skinny fits—but don’t you think a splash of color adds spice to your wardrobe?

Spring and summer are peeking ’round the corner and we’re psyched too, but we also can’t help looking a little bit further into the future. And here’s a hint: the future looks shiny (in a totally non-obnoxious way!) Metallics are going to be big this fall, and Doctrine Denim has the perfect pair to round out your denim arsenal. These cropped skinny jeans are sexy enough for going out, but the metallic gold color tends towards the pearlescent rather than the in-your-face vibes of flashier metallic pieces. They’re way more versatile than you’d ever believe a pair of metallic skinnies could be, so make sure to grab them ASAP for an attention-grabbing (yet appropriate) take on work, play, and everything in-between!

Life always works out this way: you discover a brand new pair of It jeans that you suddenly can’t do without (especially for that upcoming holiday party), such as Zara‘s Gold Jeans ($59.90), but they are sold out in your size. Snap! At last check-in to Zara online, only size 2 and 10 were left. However… however… Zara is legendary for taking special order requests. If you’re digging these gold jeans (pun intended), then give Zara a ring and see if they can’t have one shipped to your local store from Spain. You know you want to.

At PROJECT NY we saw just how Big Star has been able to remain a prominent player in the denim world since 1974. They stay right on top of all the current trends, stay true to their heritage, and put out the best of the best, like these gold-coated denim jeans. We’ve been fans of the coated denim trend for quite some time now (example A & example B), and we know that this pair from Big Star gives us the quality and style that we can trust, just as we’ve been doing for almost 40 years now.

Earlier in the summer we told you all about our love for H&M’s metallic-coated denim shorts (flashback here) and thanks to Katherine from Cracow, we now have no doubts that this trend will follow us into fall a la metallic-coated denim pants. By rocking these H& M gold-coated jeans with a sophisticated black blazer, she shows how gold is for so much more than just jewelry this season. If you want a funky yet polished look this fall, metallic-coated denim is just what the fashion gods ordered and we are we’ll be the first to say it: Amen!
