First there was Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake in matching denim at the 2001 American Music Awards. The denim gown on Spears and denim tuxedo on Timberlake are forever ingrained on the impressionable minds of young millennials across the country. Then Katy Perry donned denim in an attempt to tug at the heart strings of her “90’s kids” fans with her date, Riff Raff, at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. In Perry’s famously kitschy fashion her gown was an obvious homage to the original worn by Spears.
Then Pharell Williams and his wife Helen Lasichanh wore matching double denim outfits last night at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards and the whole fashion world was entranced once again. This time, however, it appeared the couple updated the double denim look in an honest act of self expression. Pharell was decked out in a white tee, denim jacket and jeans in a matching shade. Lasichanh wore a denim button up shirt trendily buttoned all the way to the top underneath a distressed pair of overalls. Pharell is known for being true to his sense of self and once you remember that he has joined G-Star to create his own line of denim products made from recycled plastics, G-Star RAW for the the Oceans, the denim outfit seems perfectly appropriate.
In stores now: the G-Star Correct Line Spring-Summer 2012 collection features a mix of casual denim staples and sophisticated lightweight separates. This is G-Star’s more tailored line which expands beyond its progressive raw denim and streetwear collection. Paying attention to construction, or deconstruction, rather, their Cruise Deconstructed Blazer ($280) and Baseball King Bomber jacket (constructed of 70/30 cotton-linen body; 100% leather sleeves, $230) will be a great daily backup for that elevated casual look you’re seeking. And, as introduced, the Courier Arc 3D jean ($180) will serve as your starting point. The range includes a crafted selection of twill shirts and refined knits—all in seasonless hues. Here’s a preview of the eye candy that’s in store.

One of the biggest trade shows in Europe happens at Bread & Butter Berlin, and G-Star RAW was there to debut their new Spring-Summer 2012 collection to buyers. If you ever decide to launch a denim label and break into Europe, this is the trade show you must get into. The scale of the displays are hardcore as each brand competes for attention. See exclusive snaps and behind-the-scenes views of G-Star’s enormous space at the trade show, complete with an “art” installation hall, open-plan booth and dedicated storefront.

French actress Clemence Poésy is the new campaign face of G-Star RAW, debuting in Spring-Summer 2012. You may have seen her in Harry Potter and TV’s Gossip Girl. Introduced at Bread & Butter Berlin, Poésy is featured in the campaign along with Vincent Gallo. Poésy “reflects the characteristic brand DNA: she is a confident, strong and in control woman without compromising her femininity,” says Shubhankar Ray, G-Star Raw’s global brand director. At Bread & Butter Berlin, G-Star Raw’s stage was stylistically unkempt, as models struck their poses and strutted around wads of crumpled white masses. Check out the images for a peek!

The Autumn/Winter 2011 G-Star Correct Line “Midnight Collection” is out, so if you’re still searching for the perfect holiday gifts, look no further. This collection is full of creative options for evening wear, but better than what you’re used to because of G-Star’s efforts to include new silhouettes and fabric choices. You can be sure that when you’re wearing anything from this line, you are sure to be the most talked about in the room (in a good way of course!). While the blue and black palette remind us of G-Star’s denim roots, it also makes these pieces extremely easy to pair with staple items in your closet, like black leather boots. Our favorite look from the collection has to be the NY RAW runway inspired dress, the Kalahari Dress. See the comparison below and shop for the rest of the items in stores or online at G-Star.

We weren’t kidding when we said G-Star was getting cooler by the season! Feast you’re eyes on their Spring 2012 lookbook! A mix between their trademark utilitarian aesthetic and a more dressed up feel (check out the cool blazer in camel for guys), spring certainly promises to be a season of cool and sophisticated style. What are we crushing over? Well, aside from pretty much everything, we’re really loving the continuation of the women’s drop-crotch denim (no one does these like G-Star) accented with the perfect cropped length. Check out the full lookbook bellow!

Where can you find amazing brands like G-Star, Plein Sud, Hudson, Just Cavalli, One Teaspoon, Isabel Marant, and Dsquared2 all in one place? Right here in this beautiful editorial from Vogue Paris! It features Natasha Poly and Sasha Pivovarova and was styled by Emmanuelle Alt. Due to the great variety of brands that are featured, you are able to see a ton of hot looks that you can takeaway as inspiration for your own wardrobe, no matter what your personal style is. Our favorite item from the shoot was the Isabel Marant jean shearling lined jacket, and in a close second came the printed Just Cavalli jeans. Take a look at the complete editorial and become just as envious as we are (trust us, it’s going to happen!).

Nothing is too good for baby, according to G-Star. You can’t buy your friends love, but you can make them a one-off, custom handcrafted chambray baby denim coverall with thin blue selvage, created from a special source in Japan, lovingly detailed with special Tenue de Nîmes logo embroidery, and then finally presented in a handcrafted dust bag. That’s what G-Star RAW Men’s Designer Remco de Nijs did for his good friend (apparently) Menno van Meurs of Tenue de Nîmes, to welcome their “new addition” to the team. We’re certain denim-loving moms and dads are collectively jealous.

During the last week of October, G-Star hosted Women’s Night in its monobrand stores worldwide. From London to New York to Tokyo, G-Star stores turned into a fashion experience were women were advised on the perfect jeans while enjoying music, drinks and beauty. Women’s Night in Soho attracted a group of over 150 fashionable ladies. Besides shopping for the perfect denim, women received “Skinny Jeans” Salon Effects manicures by Sally Hansen, hair touch ups by Warren Tricomi and make-up by Bobbi Brown. Stylists were on hand to walk guests through G-Star’s staple 3301 basic denim and the brand’s latest 3D denim evolutions. Guests also shopped and explored G-Star’s RAW Essentials and Correct Line offerings while DJ Chelsea Leyland set the sound for the evening. Check out the event snaps from NY, Tokyo, Madrid, Rome, London, Paris, and Amsterdam below!
