Some like their denim crisp and new, others like it with well-worn vintage vibes. It’s safe to say Free People is a brand that masters the latter of these aesthetics, and their indigo shop is a denim-lovers dream. From ’70s inspired wide leg jeans and jean overalls to indigo dyed scarves and canvas shoes, you’ll find a piece of magic to add to your wardrobe this season. There’s even a matching top and bottom that brings the denim on denim look to a chic new level. Shop our favorite Free People denim picks below.
H&M knows that the desire to capture iconic 70s beauty is as popular as ever, and they smartly worked Lara Stone into the mix to ensure their newest campaign for fall—which is, as you can see, oozing with 70s vibes—is a hit. She wears high waisted flare leg jeans like no one else. The mix of light wash denim and camel hues feels as fresh as ever. Could it be that we just never grow tired of seeing this aesthetic? Check out the full campaign.

Free People has launched a new vintage denim and clothing capsule collection, which is (obviously) brimming with authentic ’70s inspired denim, including jumpsuits, a denim bustier, and gorgeous crocheted blouses. The lookbook, shot in Venice Beach, perfectly mimics the authentic vintage vibe of the garments themselves, with accessories like guitar cases and wide brimmed hats accentuating each of the looks.

The Frame Denim Fall/Winter 2015 collection was launched with the same concept the brand was born from: chic wardrobe essentials, inspired by the heritage of denim manufacturing in Los Angeles. The fully fleshed-out ready-to-wear collection consisted of effortless pieces like stovepipe cropped jeans, high-waisted flare leg jeans (love flare legs? They’re on the rise again!), a totally wearable jumpsuit, and a perfect denim skirt that mimics the silhouette of a denim jacket tied around the waist. See the whole collection here.

Or maybe a better question is, did they ever leave? 70s-inspired flare leg and bell bottom jeans are definitely an acquired taste, but we’ve seen them pulled off with ease by style stars each year since they were a socially acceptable trend in their decade of origin. Ready for something new? As you’ve heard by now, skinny jeans are a yawn-worthy option for fall style, so a pair of epic patchwork trousers, slouchy harem-inspired bottoms, or flare legs might suit you. After all, once the lower half of your ensemble silhouette gets interesting, it opens up opportunity to try new things on top, too (quilted denim jacket, anyone?). The Zoe Report is dishing on this season’s most sought-after trends. Yeah, mom jeans are in there too.

We admit it: we still love the idea of starting fall with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and an oversize sweater… but it’s nice to mix things up, and we know some of you are just plain sick of wearing skinny jeans. If that sounds like you, Nasty Gal has some nice alternatives to mix things up as the weather cools down. A flare leg, a boyfriend jean, and a super cute pair of denim trousers (reminiscent of stovepipe jeans from the 70s). Shop all three below.

If you’re not already aching to jet off on a summer getaway, Siwy Denim’s newest lookbook will definitely ignite that desire. The spring 2014 shoot has an aviation theme, with models sporting Siwy styles inside, outside, and all over airplanes. The aviation theme is perfect, because the collection lends itself so well to packing for travel. Great denim basics, like acid wash ankle length skinnies, pair with statement pieces, like a sheer ombre top that would be killer for an international night out.
