With Love, From Sweden: Three Fresh Denim Street Style Looks

Some style bloggers hit the nail on the head about once a month by combining colors, textures, and style sensibility in a look that gets hype’d and turns heads. Some of them are consistently awesome. We love Swedish style blogger Frida‘s ensembles enough to merit her a Google Reader subscription and a glance in the morning when we don’t know what to wear. She rocks denim like a champ, and we wanted to share three of her recent looks that we love, with some pointers to help you achieve a similar level of chic.

First look, faux fur x lace x hooded carigan.

Mixing a more casual garment (hooded cardigan) with a decidedly more formal garment (faux-fur vest and lace top), you get a look that meets luxury and everyday style somewhere in the happy medium. A pair of perfectly fitting medium-wash blue jeans and leather accessories make the look versatile and accessible, while the lace and fur combo always add a bit of bohemian charm. Keep that in mind if you’re going for boho.

Second look, leather cropped jacket x cut-off shorts x costume jewels.

“Biker babe meets princess” is a look we love, and it’s easy to achieve. One part cut-off denim shorts (wear them with tights when the weather is chilly), one part light-colored cropped leather jacket (the more buttery, the better), a plain grey tee, and a blingin’ costume jewelry bib necklace combine for a knock-out ensemble. Her silver studded bag and metallic ankle boots are great punctuation for the otherwise light hued fabrics. Some fringe on those shorts are a must, and you can rock thick mascara and pretty pink lips to balance out the “princess” factor.

Third look, classic plaid top x platform shoes x ankle length skinny jeans.

Here’s a super classic look that combines Americana plaid with ’70s boho. Once again she wears medium-wash ankle-length jeans and her lace top, but she mixes those pieces with a boho fringe bag, a floppy hat, and big Jeffrey Campbell platform shoes. She layers a plaid top in red, white & blue and changes the course of the whole ensemble and ups the casual factor. Notice her color palette—and how much character the bag and hat add.

We hope you enjoy these three looks and have some fun trying them out. One of our favorite things about Frida is how often we see the same pieces popping up in her looks. She makes the most of a few key pieces and a great pair of jeans by switching out accessories and separates. You can do the same!

Denim, Faux Fur & Leather: 3 Winter Fabrics You Can’t Live Without

When you look awesome and you’re warm despite the elements, you’ve got yourself a perfect winter outfit. Style blog Fashion Squad displays a prime example, pairing a denim workshirt with leather pants and adding an oversized faux-fur jacket on top. The epic jacket (scored at H&M), adds drama to the look, while the workshirt keeps you from looking over-done. Add a studded purse and leather pants, and you’re ready to take on a cold day with the utmost of style.

Street Style Round Up: Fur Makes A Comeback

Straight off the runway and right onto the streets, fur is everywhere this season. So much in fact that it’s easy to say that the once controversial item of clothing has definitely made an official comeback, and there’s no question as why.  Fur—be it short or long,  faux or real—gives any outfit the perfect touch of luxury and drama. And, trust us, there’s no better way to give your denim an instant touch of posh than to pair it with a luscious fur coat or jacket.

Here are some of our favorite street style looks that combine our latest fashion obsession with our textile of choice:collages1-1

images from & Eat, Sleep, Denim

1. Model Kang Seung Hyun poses for Eat, Sleep, Denim in this faux-fur 3/4 coat paired perfectly with cut-off denim shorts and silk charmeuse polka dot shirt.

2. Mix it up!  This white fur, leather, and denim combo is a great way to look chic while still edgy.

3. Always ahead of the game, the late Daul Kim is a perfect example of how take jeans and a t-shirt and give it drama by adding fur into the picture.

4. This Chanel t-shirt and studded Zara blazer keep this otherwise classic fur coat modern and hip.

5. From the faux-fur coat to the plaid-fringed denim button down, give your look a vintage feel like this one by adding antique necklaces and broaches.
