Fashion never stops, and it never waits until Spring 2013 to try on the hottest looks inspired street style stars. Personal style superstar Leandra Medine of the Manrepeller blog has proclaimed that it’s all about the Statement Pants. We couldn’t agree more! We think some Statement Jeans are in order, actually, so we’ve compiled a hit list of great jeans on Shopbop to get you on the fast track for bold street style admiration. Oh, and you’re welcome.
Recently, Refinery29 featured three ways to wear wide leg jeans, a great go-to jean to transition from summer to fall. We know it’s hard to imagine at the moment, through the scorching temperatures, that cooler days are upon us, but it’s true! These breezy wide hem jeans work well for a casual weekend, or a weekday work outfit; it’s very versatile. Throw on a blazer, slip on some heels, swap in a colorful blouse. Just make sure your job allows you to wear jeans on non-Fridays! What’s great about wide leg jeans is that you can keep wearing them into fall and stretch your denim dollars! Check out the suggested pairings and see if you can’t personalize it even more with your own accessories and favorite footwear.
With a luxe spin for fall, BlankNYC‘s upcoming denim collection focuses on the skinny jeans the brand is known for, in a variety of washes. Besides the requisite bleached blues and deeper indigos, look out for printed jeans inspired by Moroccan tiles, rich coated burgundy and teal jeans, and color-blocked pieces. We’re thinking of one word: decadent. But the price doesn’t have to be! Their newest line also boasts pairs made with X-Fit Lycra fabric, a type of 4-way stretch denim offered at an affordable, under-$100 price tag.
For those of you who have been following Canadian-based Fidelity Denim over the years, you know they’ve been called the butt bra of jeans and have a celebrity following. Fidelity, now distributed stateside, has a mens jeans collection as of 2009. As much as we’re coveting the Spring-Summer 2012 jeans collection (stay tuned for our denim review!), we can’t help but fall in love with the styling in their fall lookbook. You’ll see the requisite skinny jeans, along with a slick burgundy coated jean, flared jeans and even some velvety fine-wale corduroy jeans in skinny silhouettes. Rich, saturated hues along with faded fall shades are at your disposal. Check out the gallery to peruse all the Fall styles.
David Kahn Jeans hits all the right sophisticated and warm-hued notes for Fall-Winter 2012. The collection features wine and jewel toned skinny jeans, sleek and feminine silhouettes along with a nod to the return of the flared jean, proving David Kahn’s offerings are already on-trend and on the right track for fashionable types who like to plan out their denim fashion six months in advance. Re-launched in Spring 2011 with new Design Director Bryan Boone at the helm, you’ll find the denim brand has definitely gone through a refresh in design and inspiration. According to a David Kahn representative, “Under Boone’s design direction the brand focuses on fashion forward collections for the denim enthusiasts, highlighting innovative techniques and fresh details.” Check out the gallery and lookbook video for all the looks.
Last night, denim lovers packed themselves inside the Earnest Sewn shop in the Meatpacking District to get first dibs on the fall collection (read our previous coverage of the collection) and meet with Creative Director Benjamin Talley Smith. We asked him why the preview was open to the public (rather than to press and VIP only): “As returning designer I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to see the new direction of the line. I think it’s important that our customers know where we are headed and I love the feedback. I also believe that Earnest Sewn is about a lifestyle and having a good time, so throwing a party is important to me.” Just in case you weren’t there to also enjoy a performance by Brooklyn-based band New Beard, we’ve got a few party pics.
Are you looking for the best jeans for men that involve fun colors to be worn this fall? Photographer Ivan Muselli produced a pictorial for Essential Homme magazine, entitled “Whimsical Youth,” which features young male models frozen in action styled in vibrant dapper suits and Technicolor streetwear. Fall earthen colors featured withstanding, you get a fair injection of electric blues and variations of red from silk sateen deep red to soft wool tomato in the trousers and jeans. In some cases, the models were styled in white or an acid-washed brown jeans to counteract the loud colors. If you’ve been wondering how to rock some color this fall, we bet you’ll get some style ideas here.
Models featured: Alexandre Cunha, Bastiaan Van Gaalen, Christian Plauche, Christophe Ribbe, Joan Pedrola, Leebo Freeman, Luke Briggs, Malthe Lund Madsen, Sebastian Sauve, Tom Lander and Tommy Kristiansen. Images via The Fashionisto.
Paige Denim has done a collection refresh for Fall 2011 by offering trendy color denim in most of their classic fits. Look for “black cherry”; “fir green”; and “scarlet.” Already a popular denim staple for women, Paige Adams-Gellar has definitely brought her jeans for men up front and center this fall in sophisticated and on-trend fits “for the man who has great fashion sense but who doesn’t want to look overdone.” We’re particularly pleased that Paige Denim has brought on some eye candy via the stars of this video: It Girl model Poppy Delevingne (sister is Cara of ASOS fame), and hunky Colin Owens (Ashton Kutcher’s body double in “No Strings Attached”).
For Fall 2011, Current/Elliott has reintroduced a line of jeans for men along with the brand’s successful womens jeans collection. As the brand made its name with its wildly popular Boyfriend and Bell Bottom jean fits, those silhouettes are not going away anytime soon. And to follow suit, the men’s denim also has a few baggy jeans and a railroad striped jean of its own to complement the women’s jeans collection. Unlike the men’s Fall 2011 lookbook, which takes place outdoors in natural surroundings (reminiscent of the first women’s lookbook), the Fall women’s lookbook is set inside a theatre in which the models are styled with various Edwardian-era capes, wraps and top hats. Perhaps the stylist may have taken some liberties from the pages of a Steampunk fashion book, but we do love Current/Elliott’s ability to inspire us through its storytelling mix of modern jeans set against a semi-period backdrop. View the gallery for the Fall-Winter Collection of men’s and women’s jeans by Current/Elliott.
Madewell‘s Fall 2011 Lookbook is out! It’s no secret we’re fans of the brand here at Denim Therapy, so we’ll cut to the chase and tell you that you’ll be stylin’ and channeling your inner Jenna Lyons—but the edgier, younger sister version. Notice the rolled up cardigans layered over long sleeves that you also roll up? Wear skinny jeans, ripped jeans, or denim shorts in the fall? Not a problem. There are also plenty of wintry layering separates and outerwear featured to keep you warm enough to strike that sideways, toes pointing together pose that will get you tons of Hypes and Hearts. Check out the gallery to preview what’s to come.
