This editorial out of the pages of the June 2011 issue of Vogue Japan starring one of our favorite it-girls, model Anja Rubik, takes the edginess of punk and infuses it with a whole lot of funk aesthetic. A studded and weathered acid wash denim trench coat styled with nothing but a barely-there mesh top and heavy hardware accessories sets the tone for this juxtaposition of styles. A doze of double denim topped with a sequin-embelished blazer accented with a patent leather penny loafer with exposed white socks solidifies this as a killer fashion fantasy come true in our book! Definitely the best of both worlds!

Summer is right around the corner, and though it may still be too cold to pull off a bonafide summer look without freezing at night, it doesn’t mean we can’t plan ahead. This editorial is the embodiment of California summer style, from cropped t-shirts and t-shirt dresses stamped with vintage graphics to high-rise denim short shorts with frayed edges. The occasional leather jacket keeps things edgy, and sums up the inspiration you need for a killer summer look. Our personal favorite? A pair of denim overalls over a bathing suit top. Super cute. Now all we need is for summer to get here!

It’s safe to say that by now we’re all in the-know about the comeback of 70s fashion, especially when it comes to the wide-leg denim trend. Clearly we’re into it, but we’re not going to lie—we totally wish it would have come back with a bit more edge. So when we came across this killer editorial in the June 2011 edition of Style Singapore featuring some amazing denim looks with true 70s glam rock cred we were totally hyped to say the least. Modernized to perfection yet keeping with the drama that was 70s glam this has totally satisfied our fashion cravings!

This delectable editorial in April’s issue of BlackBook Magazine has us feeling anything but clean. Ukrainian beauty Olga Maliouk looks amazing featured in workwear denim pieces such as overalls with seductive zipper details for the perfect combination of sexy meets working class blues (pun totally intended). We are especially in love with the racy little romper in a classic railroad denim textile. For the record (not that we didn’t think so already), if there was ever any doubt about whether or not denim workwear could be sexy this editorial totally solidifies it in our book!

There are two things that we can’t get enough of: denim and the people who rock it with iconic style. And we can’t think of anyone that has single-handedly impacted pop culture and the world of fashion to an iconic degree other that Madonna. In the latest issue of Out Magazine we get a never before seen look at the pop star in an vintage editorial rocking a heavy dose of double denim. An oversized denim jacket and distressed, high-waisted, cuffed jeans accessorized with chain and studded belts anyone? Who knew mom jeans could look so rad? Apparently Madonna did. The images were captured by photographer Richard Corman back in 1982 just a year before the material girl released her first album. The rest is, well, history and we love it!

Brazilian fresh face Vanessa Cruz takes us on a short but sweet retro road trip to the 50s in the February issue of Marie Claire Brazil. The vintage inspired editorial, shot by photographer Fernando Louza, takes the best of what the decade had to offer and makes it of-the-moment with an ultra modern take. High waisted short short ensembles are paired with the perfect denim accents from studded work shirts to vests in classic 50s sleeveless shirt cuts and boleros make for the perfect retro look .

In the latest British Vogue, spring sees a heavy dose of minimalism, and denim is at the forefront of its proclaimed off-duty essentials. This fun editorial makes us want to jump into its pages with one of our favorite models, Sasha Pivovarova for a raucous good time in spring denim must-haves. We love, love, love that denim is highlight of this minimal look. From the jean work shirts (which are a debated “essential” on our facebook page) to the oversized jeans and even the boxy double denim ensemble that caps off the set!

We’re obviously obsessed with anything reminiscent of 90s grunge, so it’s no wonder why we love this editorial from the latest issue of Sportswear International. Shot by Jimmy Fontaine and styled by Karen Levill, this moody adventure sets these Dr. Marten-wearing young things in the middle of nowhere parading around in the apathy of their youth, while looking great doing it. We love how the subtle and almost inconspicuous use of denim (besides the apparent faded denim jacket) adds to the effervescence of the styling. Who knew looking so listless could be so complex?

Newly established Australian online magazine, On The Streets Of Sydney, features model Zach Vickers in their first editorial rightfully titled “Somewhere, Sydney”. Dressed in some simple yet noteworthy denim looks and filled with a melancholy angst that makes us think of Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere, this editorial makes us wish we were pool-side right about now. We’re loving the drama of sheer top layered over the studded denim shirt, and without a doubt the long denim tail shirt adds to our longing to be lounging about with nothing but our swimsuits on under. Starving for Summer yet? We are too! Meanwhile, editorials like this one will have to do.
