One of our favorite style-based denim blogs to follow is Eat Sleep Denim, and they just posted up a personal encounter of one blogger’s awakening to the world of investing in designer jeans and upgrading their wardrobe with what was perhaps a previously looked-over textile. Sure, wearing denim can be an adventure in precise care, street cred, limited edition jeans hunting, and other complex sub-sports the varied textile offers consumers, but it’s also about scoring a pair of jeans in the name of style. Really, really good style.
“So I don’t know about you guys, but I always spend the last days of the year cleaning out my closet, throwing things in bags to sell or donate, and generally having a think about what I need (and what sartorial mistakes not to repeat in the coming year).
In 2011, I started writing for Eat Sleep Denim, and since then the denim stylings of Jennine, Taylor and the many featured bloggers has deepened my love for all things jean – but to be honest, it’s also opened my eyes to investing in designer denim. For 2012, I’ve decided I’m going to stick to the basic silhouettes and styles in my “core” denim wardrobe (as shown above) – but I’m going to stop buying jeans I’m not totally in love with and start saving up.
Too many not-quite-right pairs went in my giveaway bin this year – and with all the sales going on right now, it would actually be more sensible for me to spend a little more for a pair I’ll wear non-stop. (This is true of the rest of my wardrobe too … I really had to stop and think if I’ve even worn any of my cheap “trendy” mall pieces more than once)…”

Top three reasons why we love the 70′s era: Jimi Hendrix, 8 track tapes, and the beautiful Farrah Fawcett. It was an era that transformed peace loving hippies into rocking trendsetters of the 80′s. Believe it or not, the 1970s also perpetually inspired our style, with key pieces such as macrame, fringe, floppy hats, and feathered jewelry. Denim pieces such as, wide leg pants, and button up skirts were essentially must have items. Combine these two elements and you have the effortlessly chic style of the 70s. So it’s easy to see why the trend has come back into play, Bohemian “boho chic” (seen below) is a modern 70s flair that screams sexy and powerful but not to overdone. After all, who wouldn’t want to kick butt (think Charlie Angels) in a pair of wide leg high rise pants? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
