Doctrine jeans is already really good at denim, but they’re getting really good at fashion separates too. When we caught up with them at Coterie, details like scalloped edges and built-in tie-belts in chambray shorts were a pretty big step towards “super cute/could even turn sexy” fashion-forward sportswear. We also saw soft vintage-inspired flares and straight legs that were just as much office-wear as they were ready for an evening downtown at Schiller’s—and most notably, totally on-trend and exciting. We love these two pieces from the spring 2012 lookbook—a pair of “skinny slouch” boyfriend jeans and the adorable aforementioned scalloped hem shorts. Two bound-to-be best sellers? We say yes.

We like to think of these as boyfriend jeans…for boys. The Gap 1969 Max Crop Jean is a menswear staple for fall and spring that you can start wearing right now, before the real cold sets in. They feature a drop crotch and cuffed hem, sitting just at the base of the calf. We spotted these jeans on The Denim Guy and we had to ask our own male staff… would they wear them? The answer was a resounding YES! Paired with some converse sneakers, or a preppy canvas shoe, you can’t go wrong with this casual-cool fit. They cost around $70 and are available at Gap.

In stores now and for a limited time: G-Star has produced the Griff Arc suit in raw denim. It’s a strapless denim romper cut in roomy arc legs and bodice top. Featured in the Spring/Summer 2011 global advertising campaign and worn by the campaign’s poster girl Gemma Arterton (“Prince of Persia”, “Quantum of Solace”), the Griff Arc suit “reflects G-Star’s core women’s theme of RAW Elegance, fusing contradictory elements of sensuality and toughness in a flattering all-in-one shape.” We love the semi-billow silhouette shown on the runway below—imagine yourself power-walking down the street in this ensemble! If you’re in the market for a strapless raw denim one-piece, then G-Star is the brand to try. They are known for their ability to mesh wearable runway silhouettes with premium denim.

Available now exclusively at G-Star monobrand stores throughout the United States. Find a G-Star store near you.

This summer, stylish folks don’t have to sacrifice style for the weather. Sure, it’d be easier to just go naked; but, that would be boring, no? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, AllSaints Spitalfields has the right formula for the Goth who happens to love the sun. They’ve got the right combination for the denim aficionados who crave edgy construction (drop-crotch, anybody?) and clean lines. They’re sensitive to the needs of the model/rock star/mogul in you. AllSaints has the summer denim shorts worth wearing.
AllSaints Spitalfields, originally from the U.K., has gone pretty much global at this point, especially with the inception of their e-commerce site which sells primarily in GBP or USD. In the U.S., if you happen to live in Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City or San Francisco, then you’re a lucky bloke or blokette, because you can stroll into their Rock ‘n’ Roll/punk-inspired shops which carry their full line of clothing, accessories and homeware.
