“Keats: Rinso Romantico” Captures First Raw Denim Wash In Action

If you’re unfamiliar with raw denim, you might cringe at the thought of going months without washing your go-to pair of jeans, but that’s just what John did with his pair of Raleigh Denim‘s Keats Patchpocket Raw jeans. His fiance Lisa was there to capture that very first wash, coming after four months of everyday wear and bicycling to work, in a series of photographs called “Keats: Rinso Romantico.” This may not sound too exciting–until you realize this first wash involved jumping and swimming in El Salvador’s Coatepeque Lake (um, jealous), followed by a Rinso detergent scrub with a wide bristle brush. Kind of an epic way to wash your jeans for the first time, huh?

Check out the full process and photos below!

Analog’s Wheel Wash Uses Skateboard Wheels To Wash Jeans (Seriously)

So here’s the thing: we love hearing about new, innovative denim-making techniques, but we also love it when the results are, well, something we’d actually want to wear. Thankfully, Analog Clothing‘s Wheel Wash technique doesn’t let us down. The chill sports lifestyle brand eschews the traditional process of stone-washing to break down denim material, substituting–get this–old skateboard wheels for smooth and conditioned jeans. (Who knew that old wheels = fabric softener?) We give them major props for repurposing, but we’re most thrilled about the fact that the jeans made from this technique aren’t limited to one particular wash; the selection ranges from coated denim to cerulean blue jeans.

Daily Denim Tip: Don’t Dry Your Jeans In The Machine

We sourced this gem of wisdom during our denim style and care Q&A (which goes down weekly at 3:30PM – 4:30PM EST on Wednesdays)…

To make jeans last longer, don’t dry them in a dryer! Lay flat to dry or dry hanging upside-down (this will keep the length of your jeans long as they dry, and keep the butt area from being stretched out).”
