Black Orchid Denim takes us behind the scenes on their recent photo shoot for their Fall-Winter 2011 lookbook entitled “Voyeur.” Remember the eye-candy photos from our previous feature on Black Orchid’s Fall 2011 photoshoot? We’ve now got the video. Featuring a model whose smokey glances could burn a hole through the camera lens, she can certainly show the ladies (and gents) how good it feels to be in a pair of Black Orchid jeans, whether they were skinny ankle jeans, zipper jeans or metallic jeans. With Sade’s “Smooth Operator” setting the mood for the shoot, which takes place in and around a gentleman’s club, we see the model posing not only as a guest, but teasingly as a performer.

Billabong is known far and wide as a surfer culture brand which promotes the beach lifestyle: whether that beach is in Australia, California or Hawaii. In this recent video, the brand exerts itself into other areas of recreation: set in New York City, this is a bustling metropolis where there is likely more sidewalk surfing on any given day. The video series takes us on a 36-hour adventure in which a guy and girl experience “Damn Good” everything in their Billabong jeans. The trailer gives you a taste of their Billabong Jeans campaign, showcasing their medium wash and distressed jeans for young people with an active lifestyle. You really have to watch each video for the story to make sense. The verdict: we were impressed their jeans weren’t created as a mere afterthought collection.
You can find moderately-priced jeans in resin-baked, enzyme-washed and raw denim for men range from $49.50 to $149.50. Go to Billabong online to view more Billabong Jeans styles.

We had the chance to hook up with 7 For All Mankind stores throughout NYC for Fashion’s Night Out and do some hem-measuring, champagne-sipping, and customer greeting! We got to meet some of our blog followers and a hoard of loyal denim lovers, from Flatiron to Soho and over on West 10th Street too! Check out these snaps from our FNO experience! These are mostly from the 7FAM Bleecker Street store… but we also peeked around the corner at the Teen Vogue block party where Mary Kate Steinmiller was introducing musical acts and the roads were blocked by stylish wanderers. And stay tuned for our FNO denim street style gallery and video montage, coming up this week (we’re unstoppable!).

How many students can you squeeze into a pair of jeans? How many ways can you wear jeans? Peace-loving artsy magazine Battle in Vain recently tested these questions using fun-loving volunteers from University of Salford (Greater Manchester, England), friends and random volunteers. “The idea was to get [the jeans] away from being the trusty sidekick and have them centre stage; getting people to get together and celebrate their differences while wearing their trusty loved denim,” said magazine founder Aaron McCammon.
When you watch the video, you sort of feel like it’s a freestyle battle of who can be the most crazy with their jeans. Oh, and the extra baggy jeans in the video is a BKLYN Denim vintage treasure belonging to McCammon. Of course, when you bring total strangers together who also contribute their own jeans for an experimental photo shoot, comedy (or havoc) is likely to ensue; but, we’ll let you be the judge.
