J Brand CEO, Jeff Rudes has a thing or two to say about what every gal needs in her denim inventory this fall.
“Which jeans should every woman have in her closet? She should have 3 skinnies, 1 flare, a few colors, always a corduroy and 1-2 fashion styles – who’s counting!”

This style tidbit is brought to you by the Intermix Blog.

Expand the life of your cutoffs! Cutoffs don’t usually last past a few summer seasons because the frayed edges wear out every time you throw them in the wash. Try to wash them less, and put them in a dry cleaning or lingerie bag when you do. That way you can rock your baby-blues to as many concerts, camping trips, and late-night dates as possible!

“I’m a true believer there aren’t any denim don’ts, as long as you style things properly and dress for your body type. With summer here, it’s a great time to take advantage of all the amazing cut-off shorts available, but it’s equally as important to pair them with the right shoes. Cut-off shorts are a day-time look that should be paired with a chic slip-on or gladiator sandal. While we’re obviously showing off our gams by wearing cut-offs, we should also keep it sophisticated, yet fun & casual… This isn’t the time to wear 6″ wedges!
Try to pick a style with a higher rise since this offers a more flattering silhouette when the inseam is already teeny tiny! [BLANKNYC] offers a super chic pair at a really affordable price point—I love pairing these with my K. Jacques sandals.”

You read about freezing your raw denim to clean it this morning, but here’s another tip that votes against throwing jeans in the washer and dryer. After you buy a new pair of jeans, wear them a few times without washing them to help them attain the shape of your body and achieve a better fit.

Denim tip of the day: pair pastel skinny jeans with a de-saturated, darker hued accessory for a sophisticated spring look. Here Aimee S. rocks a pair of J brand skinny jeans with a thin leather belt, crocheted white top, and maroon fedora. We love the contrast between the sweet, light hue of the denim and the dark, classy shade of the hat. For an extra splash of rad, metallic accessories to play up the bohemian vibe (which occurs much more readily with the afformentioned crocheted top).
