We’ll be honest: when someone says “denim leggings“, we used to experience some degree of apprehension. When jeggings first hit the market they were straight up spandex blue jean replicas that couldn’t do anyone’s legs any favors (except maybe Conan’s). Luckily, Buffalo David Bitton have taken the denim legging to a new level of chic, and when we pulled them on their hand-dyed Penn leggings last week for the first time, we were blown away by how comfortable and yes, how cute they were. With the perfect amount of stretch and several autumn hues to choose from (like Raspberry, Flame and Black—which is more of a sexy charcoal grey), we were hooked on the versatility and the coziness. If you’re in the market for a fall denim legging that you can wear both in and out of lounge-mode, all while maxing out on comfort and staying stylish, this is the one.

Like most girls who grew up in the 90s, Gwen Stefani still holds a very special place in our hearts, much like the plaid punk rock pants she used to rock on stage with belly shirts and wallet chains. Now’s your chance to recapture some of that badass style in a more refined way: Topshop’s denim plaid leggings are perfect for wearing under a big chunky sweater or styling with a tailored blazer and heels.

Los Angeles-based Sinclair Denim may sound familiar to those who have shopped their jeans at high-end retailers like Neiman Marcus, and now, they’re back this summer with some innovative washes and treatments on jeans, bermudas and denim cutoffs. We felt like a kid at a candy store when we saw the Sinclair Spring-Summer 2012 lookbook. Its palette of foil coated jeans, deep indigos, juicy dip-dye pastels, railroad stripe and even glitter offer the woman a chance to dip her hands into any style cookie jar she chooses this summer. We are in love with Sinclair’s tasteful handling of dip dye and innovative use of foil coating. How would you rock a pair of Sinclairs?

As you may recall, Paige Denim has a new look and they’ve launched so many great styles for Spring 2012, including their trademark Paige Blue hue. Our writer Kathy, isn’t used to wearing a lot of bright colors, but her favorite color happens to be blue, so she gave the Verdugo Ultra Skinny Legging in Paige Blue a shot. See her review of the style below.
What was your first thought when you tried them on?
They fit really well on me and surprisingly, for a denim legging, I loved that it sort of gives me a lift, if you know what I mean.
Where/when would you wear these?
They’re very comfortable and I see so many possibilities with them. You can wear them with a bright top for a daytime street style look, or you can go rocker with a black leather jacket and boots for an evening out in Hollywood. I’m excited to see more jeans styles made in Paige Blue!
How’s the fit?
I love the fact that the jeans didn’t choke my knees, and the inseam (at 30″) is perfect for flats or ankle boots. The jeans feel really soft and there’s just enough stretch for mobility; and, it recovers to keep everything in its place.

Have you tried on a pair of coated jeans yet? Let’s just say, not all coated denim are made equal. Recently, Denim Therapy had the chance to review a pair of DL1961 Emma jeans in Wick. These are black coated denim leggings made with X-Fit 4-way stretch jeans, so you don’t have to suffer to look great. I am wearing the Emma in a size 26 with a 32″ inseam. Although I’m not very tall, these jeans fit me perfectly from hip to ankle. Even as these are low-rise jeans (about 8 1/2″ rise), I was impressed with its contoured waistband, which prevented puckering at the back. Equally impressive was how the waistband was cut near the front: slightly higher on the sides so there was no pinching at the hip bones. One thing to note: the non-rubbery coating is only on the outside, so the interior is soft.
If you’re in the market for a great pair of sexy all-purpose black jeans, then you better try the Emma in Wick. You can get the leather jeans look without the heaviness. And, what the pictures don’t tell you online is that there’s a slight sheen and a bit of sparkle lightly scattered throughout the jeans; so, these jeans look great in the sunlight as well as at night. The DL1961 Emma denim leggings in Wick ($168) is available at
We always want to bring you the latest denim news ASAP so here it is: Diesel’s new Fall/Winter collection has just been made available in their online store–with free shipping! Diesel gives us a variety of options for the upcoming season, and we’ve chosen our personal favorites to share with you right here:
For the women, the rich brown leather and violet canvas bag is just too irresistible and not to mention a perfect match for the printed jersey racerback tank top. If you’re lovin’ the leather like we are, the white leather jacket with a zipper closure is just what you need for a night out on the town as the weather cools down. And that caramel textured leather cuff is a great accessory to top off any outfit. Our true love lies with the grey denim leggings that are the perfect transition from the white denim of summertime.
For all you men out there, Diesel’s black leather jacket is just the amount of badass us ladies like to see you in (you can look the part, just don’t act it). Free fashion tip: the dark tapered jean would be a great match with the leather jacket, so you won’t even have to worry about your bottom half looking as good as your top. For a more laidback look, the tapered blue jean or the distressed jean jacket with a Corduroy-velveteen collar is definitely the way to go. Going somewhere? The suede black and brown two-tone travel bag is stylish enough to please the ladies and masculine enough to get the ok from your friends as well.
Check out the rest of the collection at the Diesel Online Store.
