This Vintage Chanel Denim Makeup Bag Sold For $558

Few things seem to excite style mavens more than vintage Chanel, but when this vintage denim Chanel makeup bag hit Nasty Gal, it was an intense moment for all of us. Many of us clicked frantically to check our savings account balances, and debated whether this morsel was worth dropping $558 on. In the end, someone thought so, cause it’s since sold out. But we just couldn’t bring ourselves to do it.

…But seriously, how sweet would it be to pull out this baby in the ladies room when you’re powdering your nose?!

Whoever snagged it, you’re one lucky duck.

We’re Ready To Brave The Elements In Style With Marshall Artist Spring 2012

Let it be said that for a brand based in the U.K., Marshall Artist channels Americana cool pretty well. The young British menswear line first caught our eye at PROJECT NY, and their spring 2012 collection is definitely worth a closer look–if you don’t check out the details, you will miss out. From afar, their range of utilitarian pieces look like the story of when L.L. Bean met J. Crew, but we’re really celebrating the details that make these chambray jackets, selvedge denim, and fishermen sweaters distinctly stylish, yet fully functional in sportier environs. For instance, let’s all drool over the fact that many of their naval- and military-inspired chambray jackets are waterproof. Denim in the rain? Yeah, we can totally get behind that.

Catch up on what’s happening and browse our personal picks for the most interesting what-not that turns up during our morning web crawl. Got a tip you think we should include, a sale you want to share, or a style you just saw and can’t live without? Email us!

1. INDi Custom is running a Valentine’s day sweepstakes on facebook, where they’ll be handing out 100 gift cards valued between $25 and $100. Winners announced on V-day!

2. Sooo, we get it. Sex sells. But what do the jeans even look like in the new Replay Denim campaign? Irina Shayk is doing her sultry thing but there isn’t a single image in the campaign where you see a full length shot of the jeans.

3. Slooooowly but surely, more images of the Rihanna x Armani Jeans campaign surface.

4. Exciting news in the denim accessory world: The Earnest Sewn Co. and accessories company Tumi are teaming up to create a waxed-cotton and selvage denim bag that will launch in April. Mark your calendars.

5. Kate Bosworth is working on a denim collection with her stylist, Cher Coulter. We guess she’s inspired by JewelMint‘s success, but we wonder if we can expect anything but a spandex-blend colored denim rehash of every popular women’s jean right now. Surprise us, Kate!

Denim Dose: News & Links

Welcome to your morning dose of denim news, links, sales, and other irresistible glimpses of inside info. Catch up on what’s happening (and what’s definitely not happening) and browse our personal picks after scanning the web this morning. Got a tip you think we should include, a sale you want to share, or a style you just saw and can’t live without? Email us!

1. We love seeing “over the years” denim fade reviews, but here’s something a little different: a review of a denim bag that’s faded overtime (6 years, to be exact).

2. Levi’s is currently casting for their global campaign, and they’re looking for models via Instagram. That’s right! All you need is an Instagram app to get in on the action. Upload your photo and hashtag it #IAmLevis, and you’re in the running.

3. For gents who are looking for some texture in their wardrobe, we are all over this quirky “Flaph” pattern blocked top by Teruki Tatsui.

4. A good read: 10 Questions for Warp & Weft’s Devin Leisher & Mehdi Ahmadi. An excert below:

“RD: What do you hope the viewer walks away from Warp & Weft with?

Both: We would like everyone to be reminded of the passion that goes into these garments. Although it is a growing industry, ours is still a very small, niche industry in terms of these particular garments. We just want people to see how crazy we all are for this stuff.

We’d also like both newcomers and veterans of the “scene” to both get something out of the film. When you start getting into this world it’s really easy to get overwhelmed and bombarded with terms and expectations from vet’s, so we’d like to make something where newbies can get some history, learn a lot and hear from people who brought this industry to where it is today.

As for vet’s, we feel like eventually everything becomes a “been there done that” in regards to these garments. It can take a lot for people to be impressed, so we’re hoping interviews and insight from people they have often followed on SuFu can give them something new.”

5. Denimology asks the tough questions: Skinny, slouchy, or drop crotch?

Denim Therapy Loves: Meredith Wendell Denim Duffle Bag

There are a lot of denim bags and totes on the market, some of them ideal for preppy guys, some of them ideal for hipsters strolling Williamsburg… but rarely does a chic denim bag come along that’s an all-around crowd pleaser. Once upon a time, duffle bags were a thing of the ’90s, but like most items ’80s babies called their own in late elementary school, the duffle is back. Enter the Meredith Wendell denim dufflebag, casual enough to drag to the gym and cool enough to carry around all day. Whether you fill it with your ipad and after-hours heels or use it to carry your books to class, this chic accessory will let you haul your stuff without weighing your style down.

Meredith Wendell Denim Duffle Bag ($322) – buy it at Net-A-Porter.

Is This The Ugliest Denim Bag Ever?

We love Diesel. Don’t get us wrong. And we usually jump all over Diesel jeans, their denim dresses, and their super cool urban accessories. But the latest release in the realm of totes & carry-ons from Diesel Island is iffy. And by iffy, we mean… ugly. Maybe it’s the shape of the bag against the akward contour, the handle bases being too close together, the awkward DIY-esque placement of the studs, or the feeling that too many ideas were crammed into one design. In any case, we won’t be buying this one. The line they belong to, dubbed “The Divina”, are available in three styles and fabrications, and $350—$440.

PROJECT New York Style Roundup, Part 1

It goes without saying that a meeting of creative, stylish minds such as PROJECT would result in excellent scouting grounds for killer ensembles. We were hunting for denim, but PROJECT-goers (exhibitors and guests alike) all packed some punch in the dressing department. From full length dresses to dapper suits and Hamptons-bound pastels, we captured some of our favorite looks for a post-show round up. Expect to see some covetable denim as well.   Stay tuned for part 2!
