Denim of Virtue is a premium denim brand manufactured in LA. “We didn’t want to just throw ourselves back into the ‘premium denim’ market without delivering a product that was truly luxe and worthy of the name. That was part of our Virtue… giving our customer denim that feels so good on they won’t want to take it off, and really introducing looks that stand out in the marketplace,” says the brand’s designer, Elizabeth Bae. And make no mistake, she they’re living up to their manifesto.
Sourcing the very best denim fabrics from around the globe, DoV developed new techology, “X-Fit”—a four-way stretch material that provides an unparalleled slimming effect. They looked to Italy’s Candiani denim mill for durability and France’s soft Tencel-based “Cool 12” material for their relaxed fits (so comfortable it’s pretty much impossible to take off). Finally, for their coated denim styles, they imported specialty fabric from Spain that was treated with an uber-soft wash.
What was your first thought when you tried them on?
Comfort factor. I’m used to wearing raw denim. These are more like wearing a soft moccasin after years of wearing strong tough shoes.
Where/when would you wear these?
I’ve been wearing them to brunch, for walks along the waterfront in Williamsburg… they have the perfect look and feel amazing. I’ve dubbed them my “resort jeans”.
How’s the fit?
I really like the medium rise with a tapered slim fit. They have the perfect amount of stretch and are really comfortable. The contrast cuffs are another visual bonus.

On our radar today? The Marcy Stop and their ongoing denim-styling prowess. We love how they styled this pair of grey light-wash jeans with maroon ankle boots. The jeans are turned up in a dramatic cuff to accentuate the ankle area and prelude the bold red shoes. We’re loving the jacket and accessories too. Score a similar style with a pair of light-wash grey jeans by Victoria Beckham.

When someone says “effortlessly chic“, one of the first things we imagine are the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans, worn with a great top and some killer heels. We think Fashionvibe has the right idea with this look: she adds sunnies and oversized earrings to the mix for a look that no one wants to mess with. One step up? The sweater and jeans are embellished with playful sprays of flat-back gem action. Don’t forget to cuff!

By now you know we’re all about the jeans x blazer combo. It’s a quick fix to any don’t-know-what-to-wear day that works from the office to your post-work plans. Annabelle of Viva Luxury shows us another way to rock this equation by throwing a pair of shredded boyfriend jeans into the mix, with a healthy dose of metallic jewelry. She successfully turns the rough edges of destroyed denim into something… well, luxurious! And we love it.

When seasons change, it’s hard to strike a balance between the one forecast and the next. Late summer is probably the easiest to dress for though, because you can always throw on/remove a jacket or a cardigan without much fuss. Try a pair of cuffed boyfriend jeans paired with a tucked-in top and a summer blazer for an early fall look that will stand out against everyone’s immediate transition to darker hues (while still shielding you from chilly breezes). Polish style blogger Martyna pulls off the look with ease below. Scroll to get it!

Los Angeles-based Sinclair Denim may sound familiar to those who have shopped their jeans at high-end retailers like Neiman Marcus, and now, they’re back this summer with some innovative washes and treatments on jeans, bermudas and denim cutoffs. We felt like a kid at a candy store when we saw the Sinclair Spring-Summer 2012 lookbook. Its palette of foil coated jeans, deep indigos, juicy dip-dye pastels, railroad stripe and even glitter offer the woman a chance to dip her hands into any style cookie jar she chooses this summer. We are in love with Sinclair’s tasteful handling of dip dye and innovative use of foil coating. How would you rock a pair of Sinclairs?
If you want to get your hands on a pair of Sinclair Denim, try the Coe Legging Jean in Golden Lights or the Fixed Coe Skinny in Proxy (an ombré blue), both available at REVOLVE Clothing.

London-based blogger Hedvig is definitely one of our street style inspirations for spring. We love how she wears radically different kinds of jeans–printed skinnies, white flares, and cropped, cuffed jeans–in equally chic ways. Bonus points for incorporating a mint green sweater (the “it” color this season), denim-on-denim, and graphic prints into these outfits. If you’re a fan, get the looks below!

We love the photography blog Jak & Jil—it’s a perfect example of how “street style” photography has evolved into something both more authentic (sans-posed photos and preconceived outfits), and more intense (the shots are full of models post-show with crazy hair, and many feature European fashion week go-ers who can afford some pretty epic attire). While trends like pastel hair and gem-covered shoes may come and go as you scroll through the pages, one thing keeps popping up over and over: great ways to style denim. All cameos by this dash of instant cool spark a host of ideas about layering, cuffing, distressing, and pairing. We recommend bookmarking.
