Earnest Sewn and Peter Som: The New Wave Of Floral Jeans

An exciting new development in floral printed jeans, Earnest Sewn is collaborating with designer Peter Som to bring you a new spectrum of dreamy pastel jeans in a variety of floral motifs. The jeans, entitled Floral Fusion, walked the runway during NYFW spring 2013, which means two things: A) you’ll have to wait for next spring. B) you have something to look forward to all winter! The styles include cropped, wide leg, and skinny.

See them up-close below.

More on the line, via Denim Blog:

The line blossomed from Peter Som’s poppy runway prints and incorporated Earnest Sewn’s renowned denim techniques such as pigment coating and laser-dye processes. Earnest Sewn’s Creative Director, Ben Talley Smith said, “the collaboration has pushed our team to work with silhouettes outside of the traditional five pocket realm that we know and love, so that in itself has been exciting for us.”

Designer, Peter Som noted that he’s “thrilled to partner with The Earnest Sewn Co. The fusion of my runway prints with their expertise in denim has resulted in a very exciting collaboration. As someone who wears Earnest Sewn jeans regularly, the collaboration is a natural fit.”

Nudie Jeans x Atrium NYC Collaborate On Special Edition Grim Tim Jean

Nudie Jeans Co. and Atrium NYC have announced an exciting collaborative release that hits the retail floor December 1st: a special edition of the Grim Tim jean. With a distinctive saturated green thread running through its back pocket (where their trademark orange thread typically runs), these jeans are made from an exclusive Italian-crafted slim fit organic denim dubbed Big Apple Dry Organic. And that green thread? It isn’t just a fashion statement. It pays tribute to Nudie’s dedication to the environment, for which they’ve gained global credibility (and awards). This first collaborative effort celebrates the partnership between Nudie and Atrium, and will be available for purchase exclusively at Atrium (644 Broadway, NYC) and Atrium online.

Colorful Collaboration: Notify Denim & Manish Arora Spring 2012

In case you missed this wow-factor on the runway during the spring 2012 fashion week season, Manish Arora mixed in some vivid denim jeans with their avant-garde sportswear.  Neon ombre, screen printed expressions of passion, and swirling psychedelic designs were just some of the elements involved. Of the eight original runway show designs, fifteen more were developed for a capsule collection release. Maurice Oyahon, founder of Notify says to Sportswear International, “We admire the work of Manish and his incredible know-how regarding colors and decoration.”

Expect to pay between $620 and $1,080 for a pair of these beauties. They’ll be available at Colette and L’Eclaireur, as well as Manish Arora’s e-shop. Hopefully at that price, they’ll fit better than the samples we saw on the runway.

DT Loves: Falling Whistles x Dannijo Collaboration

Falling Whistles‘ collaboration with Dannijo has given rise to some unbelievably beautiful jewelry. Their steam punk meets ultra-glam aesthetic make for a statement piece you just can’t one-up. For those unfamiliar, Falling Whistles is a non-profit organization that endeavors to bring education and rehabilitation to war-torn Congo. The whistles are symbols of the children who are sent to battle there, some of them unarmed and wearing only whistles around their necks. Every piece you buy funds the efforts of the organization, and seriously, who wouldn’t want one of these?

Whistles range from $150 to $500 and are at Falling Whistles.

Studs, Stretch & Style At The Genetic Denim Showroom Preview

Denim Therapy had a visit with Genetic Denim at their showroom in the garment district last night (literally next door to our office) to see the latest developments in their women’s and men’s collections.  Known for killer collaborations (dubbed “Genetic Visionaries”), Genetic’s latest includes a collab between the brand and Estee Stanley. The capsule collection features pieces inspired by kick-ass females from films like Kill Bill, Le Femme Nikita, and Pulp Fiction (that explains the studs). We also had a chat with creative director Ali Fatourechi about his own journey within the denim industry, and heard his tale of traveling to 42 cities interviewing women on what they love (and hate) to wear before he began orchestrating what he describes as a cult-favorite denim brand of women from coast to coast. And after pulling on our own Genetic’s, we couldn’t agree more.

The New Alexa Chung x Madewell Collection Features Pastel Pink Denim

We’ve been known to break a few rules in our time. One of them was “No white after labor day”. White jeans? We’re still wearing them. Another is an unspoken rule that sweet, pastel hues are off limits once fall’s chill sets in (and as of this morning in NYC, the chill has more than set). But Alexa Chung and Madewell have teamed up to give you one big reason why it’s going to be more than just “ok” to wear pastels clear into October. The latest collaboration, with a lookbook styled by Alexa herself, is hitting the stores September 22nd—and guess what it has! Pastel pink jeans! Of course, there’s traditional medium-wash blue jeans in the collection as well, so you don’t need to be a huge risk taker to wear this line.

We recently wrote about the new Levi’s Chambray x Opening Ceremony collaboration, and now you can nab yourself some at its new brick and mortar location, which quietly opened last month at Levi’s Plaza in San Francisco (1155 Battery St.).  The Levi’s x Opening Ceremony chambray collection will be sold at this location, one of only four stores in the country to carry it.  The official opening is said to be announced in March.

Ready to zip: Uffie x Diesel

Electro’s it-girl circa 2006, Uffie, announced a collaboration with Diesel this past summer, summoning whatever skills she gathered in her short stint studying fashion design in Paris before her music career took off. The on-point leather and denim combo capsule collection was released in-store this month, and the look book reveals just how well this self proclaimed “damn-crazy brat” and Diesel’s brand DNA mesh.
