Paul Smith Jr. Makes Denim For Kids

screen-shot-2010-08-20-at-30935-pm-203x3001The iconic British designer, Paul Smith Jr., is turning his classic-but-quirky hand to something a little smaller this Fall as he launches his first children’s collection. Pretty good news for all you parents out there if you ask us, because Paul Smith (or shall we say Sir Paul Smith) is one of Britian’s most successful designers. And, if you’re a fan of his mainline collections for men and women, chances are you’ll be a fan of his children’s collection.

The downsized version for the mini stylista will suit kids between the age of 0 and 14. The boys will feature bright striped knits and floral shirts. Jackets will be bold and eye catching with padding and graphic print. We will see the familiar quirky tees and a few classic on trend pieces such as cord blazers, khaki parkas and luxurious cashmere knits.

For the girls we will see a softer edge in the form of cute silk dresses with rose print, fairisle cardigans straight from the catwalk. Luxurious and soft long sleeved jersey t-shirts will be layered with gorgeous angora wool smocks, all will have an exciting mix of stripes and color to keep the range looking fun, playful and child like.

The line is currently for sale (just in time for the cold months ahead) at Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, and Brown Thomas. Sorry that the American folks are just going to have to wait for the line to get across the Atlantic. Then again, you and your little one could always visit the motherland. They surely will be dressed the part!
