Most of us know Michelle Siwy as the hot New York designer behind some of our favorite denim styles. But before the international success and the highly-coveted namesake denim brand, there was a girl from Rhode Island attending Central Falls High School who, like all of us, was taking her first steps towards figuring out, well, life. Clearly we know how it’s all turned out, and evidently she’s figured out a step or two towards achieving success. And it’s those steps which the designer shared as the honored keynote speaker for the C.F.H.S. graduating class of 2011. Among advice such as never giving up and having a “whatever it takes” mentality, the main point the designer stressed was following your dreams. “I always thought that to get started on my dreams, I’d have to wait until things were absolutely perfect,” she said, “What you must realize is that there is never going to be a right time to do anything, you just have to do it…give life to your dreams. And give your dreams to life.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Michelle!
