Denim brand April77 and textile designer Calla Haynes collab’d recently to create a denim capsule collection titled “Romantic Rights”—a dreamy, rock’n'roll, textured rendition of your classic jean staples. Pieces include three pairs of low-waisted jeans (erk!), two denim jackets, and a sleeveless dress. The prints are stellar, but the price is up there. Jeans are $385, jackets are $465, and the dress is $365. Calla elaborates below:
“The brand, CALLA, is based on the idea of relaxed luxury, so it was important to me to propose jeans to my client. I asked April 77 to work with me because they are just honestly my favourite denim brand! I wear them all the time. For this collaboration, we discussed mixing our two worlds together into a theme called ‘Romantic Rights’ – a vision that is both romantic and very rock and roll. For the print designs, I imagined a girl, in love, at a summer music festival and how she feels. I tried to communicate the heat, the nature and the music in abstract patterns.” —Calla Haynes.
It’s all available now at Opening Ceremony.

In case you missed this wow-factor on the runway during the spring 2012 fashion week season, Manish Arora mixed in some vivid denim jeans with their avant-garde sportswear. Neon ombre, screen printed expressions of passion, and swirling psychedelic designs were just some of the elements involved. Of the eight original runway show designs, fifteen more were developed for a capsule collection release. Maurice Oyahon, founder of Notify says to Sportswear International, “We admire the work of Manish and his incredible know-how regarding colors and decoration.”
Expect to pay between $620 and $1,080 for a pair of these beauties. They’ll be available at Colette and L’Eclaireur, as well as Manish Arora’s e-shop. Hopefully at that price, they’ll fit better than the samples we saw on the runway.

The perfect skinny jeans require the perfect t-shirt. Once you establish this equation, it’s just a matter of the right blazer and accessories. We’re totally intrigued by The AllSaints + Not For Sale T-shirt Collection—Rachel Zoe plugged it this morning and caught our attention. Not For Sale is a non-profit anti-human trafficking group, to which proceeds from these rad tees will go. You can do your part to prevent forced labor and human trafficking around the world while scoring something stylish for your closet. Win/win? We think so.
They retail at $65.00. Shop the collection here.

Not only does Brian Austin Green love his Raven Denim Sid’s in Charcoal wash but as we mentioned he has joined on as a designer for a limited edition capsule collection. While enjoying meals with wife Megan Fox, at their family favorite Little Dom’s in Los Feliz, Brian rocked his Raven Denim Sid’s two days in a row. Seems like Brian has the perfect formula for happiness: a pair of Raven denim jeans and a lunch date with his sultry wife! We’re glad he has his priorities in check.

We were already stoked the first time MiH Jeans collaborated with Net-A-Porter on the Spring 2011 capsule collection, and the second time around has us revving up our e-shopping engines too. For Fall 2011 they’re offering luxurious silk, velvet and cord fabrications in autumnal shades of bronze, burgundy and navy. Founder and Creative Director Chloe Lonsdale, says “We really wanted to capture the essence of that chic gamine vibe and tap into the mood of the season, while also offering an approachable way to wear these trends.” You’ll find ’70s style high-waist trousers, flare legs, pleated skirts, fitted blazers, and other fall fashion essentials that really round out this smart and tasteful set. ”I was particularly inspired by Julie Christie and Annie Hall; the understated sophistication of their uptown/downtown style that stood the test of time,” says Lonsdale.

1. Levi’s is launching their latest capsule collection of “modern monochrome jeans for the stylish, modern man”—and the palette is appropriately accentuated with same-tone-on-tone stitching and black zippers. And speaking of Levi’s, they’re also launching a line at Target called “denizen“. We’ll let you decide of that name is clever or boring.
2. In case you haven’t heard, Tenue de N?mes is launching something exciting too: Limited edition, hand-dyed indigo Chuck Taylors (and guys, these are some covetable kicks).
3. Color us amused! Here’s a current look of the denim habits some of our favorite childhood TV stars from the 80s. Here’s Tiffani Amber Thiessen & her saved-by-the-bell sweetheart Mark-Paul Gosselaar (AKA Zack Morris).
4. Diesel is having a Jogg jeans event at the NYC 5th avenue location this evening. In the area? Click through for deets!
5. And this might not be immediately denim-related, but we knew you’d wanna know: There’s a new twitter account broadcasting overheard musings from the elevator in the Conde Nast building, and it’s good for a laugh during lunch break.

We’re psyched to let you know that MiH Jeans has just launched their Exclusive Capsule Collection with NET-A-PORTER. MiH Jeans delved into their archives to bring out the very best of their 70′s style (right on trend); think wide leg culottes, flared jeans, swing shirts, vintage tunics and button down skirts in a palette of sheer dusty pink, Oxford blue, crisp white and fawn. They are offering their popular Marrakesh kick flare in two washes and fabrics. However, they have come up with two new shapes – the Milan, with its chic wide column leg, and the Monaco, an ankle-grazing kick flare. MiH not only has incredible denim pieces but soft cotton separates that will surely complete your summer ensembles.
In honor of their collaboration MiH is offering their Facebook fans a competition for a chance to win your choice of an item from Designer Chloe Lonsdale Picks and a one of a kind illustration by Kat Macleod.
To enter, simply email TheTeam@mih-jeans.com the name of your favourite 70′s song and a few sentences about why you like it. On Monday, Chloe will post her three favorite submissions—then it’s up to you to pick the very best. ‘Like’ the song that you think captures the perfect 70′s summer vibe, then the Facebook fan with the most ‘likes’ will receive these fab prizes.
Good luck.
