This one’s for the romantic bohemians (and anyone who wishes they were still at the beach… ugh). Australian retailer The Freedom State styled their new lookbook to look like the a flawless seaside late-summer evening, though summer is just beginning for our friends down under. The denim-centric, boho-chic series features denim overalls, cut-off shorts, and an irresistible variety of cozy knits and resortwear. Check out some of our favorite shots below.
Beach season has finally arrived, and we’re not wasting any time packing up our boho bags full of sun and sand essentials. But once the SPF and your portable iPod speakers are packed and ready to go, what about an awesome beach-ready outfit? Like many New Yorkers, we take the A train down to the Rockaways for our sea side fun, so it’s crucial to wear more than just a bikini! Here are 3 summer denim looks to wear to the beach (without looking like an exhibitionist on the train).
Free People posted some of their favorite street style looks from the first few days of New York Fashion Week, and we fell in love with some of the whimsical denim trends we spotted. Fall is the perfect time to pair pretty chambrays with vintage dresses, fringe, and lace. Some of our favorites are below, and you can see the full collection of photos here.

Clothing label Babakul picked models that remind us of Jane Birkin and her It Girl daughter, Lou Doillon, for their Spring-Summer 2012 range of Hippie jeans, and we do mean 70s fashion redux. After all, Babakul is a French translation for “hippie.” This consistent collection of classic denim silhouettes—featuring flared wide leg jeans in high waists, soft denim shorts and a flirty denim dress—are sure to be great music festival fashion staples. We suddenly wanted to put on some Serge Gainsbourg and fiddle around with an acoustic guitar (even if we can’t play one). Babakul is simply killing us with their tranquil, laid-back styling, a product of the Los Angeles-based company founded by denim industry veterans who have together founded True Religion and Taverniti jeans.
With just one look at the covetable bright blue reptile print jeans, we had to see what was up with Black Orchid Denim. As you may recall from their sultry Fall/Winter 2011 campaign, Black Orchid has a knack for raising the bar on sexy jeans. For Spring-Summer 2012, we notice a bit more of an eclectic mix of vintage wash looks and colorful prints (a girl likes to have options!), inspiring Boho style, Western, glam, rocker and some ethnic-tribal patterns.
Mih Jeans is getting dreamy this summer with a line of gorgeous effortless basics and rich colored jeans in their hallmark styles: “The light, dreamy, ease of summer. Simple and unforced dressing. Reflecting the way we live; or want to live.” They introduce three new silhouettes (the Oxford, the Miramar, and the Milan), some adorable scalloped edges, sheer tops, Indigo linens, and everything you need to add a bohemian-yet-luxe wardrobe in the warmest months of the year. See the lookbook and a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot here below.
It’s no secret that we’re major fans of anything bohemian. So, needless to say, when we laid our eyes on this editorial out of the pages of Vogue Russia filled with delectable boho everything we just had to make a big fuss about it. Not only does it show off some amazing denim separates like a killer pair of white jeans with an amazing Navajo pattern, but it’s styled to perfection with perfect fall must-haves like fur (lots of it) and tons of layers. We love the great outfit combos and the overall wearability of it all. This is definitely a great modern boho look to copy this fall!
Nothing gives us and instant fashion fix more than an eclectic mix of denim, bold prints (think snake, leopard, and Navajo), flirty sequins, and bad ass leather and studs! Sound amazing? We knew you’d dig it! LF‘s latest fall lookbook has got all of the above and more! We love the overall western meets bohemian grunge feel of it all styled with the perfect touches of on-trend sequins and fur for an added touch of luxe. Snake print denim, leopard shoes, and Navajo-inspired accessories finish off the look seamlessly. It’s safe to say that this fall season more is definitely more!
One of the hottest and most wearable trend of the season is definitely the western-meets-bohemian look. So far we’ve shown you hot to rock it with bold prints and scantly denim shorts shorts, but now that it’s getting a bit more chilly we figure you might want to add a layer or two. We love this girls take on this trend, so we broke it down for you for some food for thought. Her double denim look gets a cozy revamp with a oversized chunky knit sweater thrown over. An on-trend floppy hat, worn in suede booties, and gold accessories add the perfect western flare without going overboard.
