Clothing label Babakul picked models that remind us of Jane Birkin and her It Girl daughter, Lou Doillon, for their Spring-Summer 2012 range of Hippie jeans, and we do mean 70s fashion redux. After all, Babakul is a French translation for “hippie.” This consistent collection of classic denim silhouettes—featuring flared wide leg jeans in high waists, soft denim shorts and a flirty denim dress—are sure to be great music festival fashion staples. We suddenly wanted to put on some Serge Gainsbourg and fiddle around with an acoustic guitar (even if we can’t play one). Babakul is simply killing us with their tranquil, laid-back styling, a product of the Los Angeles-based company founded by denim industry veterans who have together founded True Religion and Taverniti jeans.

With just one look at the covetable bright blue reptile print jeans, we had to see what was up with Black Orchid Denim. As you may recall from their sultry Fall/Winter 2011 campaign, Black Orchid has a knack for raising the bar on sexy jeans. For Spring-Summer 2012, we notice a bit more of an eclectic mix of vintage wash looks and colorful prints (a girl likes to have options!), inspiring Boho style, Western, glam, rocker and some ethnic-tribal patterns.

Ashley Tisdale stepped out in Minkpink Slasher Flick Shorts recently, sporting a boho look that makes us long for summer, short-shorts sans-tights, and breezy jackets. She paired the destroyed denim with a sequined top and beige mid-calf rise boots, along with the “celeb in hiding” uniform: oversized sunglasses and a beanie hat.

It’s no secret that we’re major fans of anything bohemian. So, needless to say, when we laid our eyes on this editorial out of the pages of Vogue Russia filled with delectable boho everything we just had to make a big fuss about it. Not only does it show off some amazing denim separates like a killer pair of white jeans with an amazing Navajo pattern, but it’s styled to perfection with perfect fall must-haves like fur (lots of it) and tons of layers. We love the great outfit combos and the overall wearability of it all. This is definitely a great modern boho look to copy this fall!

One of the hottest and most wearable trend of the season is definitely the western-meets-bohemian look. So far we’ve shown you hot to rock it with bold prints and scantly denim shorts shorts, but now that it’s getting a bit more chilly we figure you might want to add a layer or two. We love this girls take on this trend, so we broke it down for you for some food for thought. Her double denim look gets a cozy revamp with a oversized chunky knit sweater thrown over. An on-trend floppy hat, worn in suede booties, and gold accessories add the perfect western flare without going overboard.

Want to give your look an edge of bohemian royalty this fall? Add a luxe garment like a kimono-style robe with embroidery and rich color! This street stype shoot from LA blogger Britney (AKA Disarming Darling) had us at first glance, with the graciously applied metallic & turquoise jewelry, light-wash denim cut-off shorts, simple knit top, and perfect boho carry-on. Shoes are key—Britney’s shoes are a unique chunky heeled sandal with major sole traction, and anything chunky works well. Avoid strappy thin-looking sandals (you’ll end up looking costume-y). Ready to rock the boho-royal look? Check out this perfect printed kimono-style robe to get started!

Top three reasons why we love the 70′s era: Jimi Hendrix, 8 track tapes, and the beautiful Farrah Fawcett. It was an era that transformed peace loving hippies into rocking trendsetters of the 80′s. Believe it or not, the 1970s also perpetually inspired our style, with key pieces such as macrame, fringe, floppy hats, and feathered jewelry. Denim pieces such as, wide leg pants, and button up skirts were essentially must have items. Combine these two elements and you have the effortlessly chic style of the 70s. So it’s easy to see why the trend has come back into play, Bohemian “boho chic” (seen below) is a modern 70s flair that screams sexy and powerful but not to overdone. After all, who wouldn’t want to kick butt (think Charlie Angels) in a pair of wide leg high rise pants? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
