Stripes & White Cut-Offs: An Easy Summer Outfit

Australian designer/blogger Jody Phan from Don’t Dance Naked shows off her easy-to-execute summer outfit: a pair of ultra-light wash denim cut-off shorts and a cropped top in black and white thick stripes. Her accessories include a bangin’ gold watch, red baseball cap, and clean white sneakers. We love her cool-casual approach to street wear, and you can rock it too! Show less skin by layering a one piece leotard beneath the top, or add a roomy knit cardigan. Add modesty to the shorts by layering a pair of lace biker shorts, or rock the whole thing as is (as soon as the weather warms up)!

Blogger Showcase: Jinna of Grease & Glamour

Jinna of Grease and Glamour, New York-based fashion blog (which made it to the finals in the Sunglass Hut Full Time Fabulous blogger competition), shows us one of her favorite denim-on-denim looks. Here’s what she had to say about it:

“Lately I’m obsessed with understatement. Casual and comfy pieces paired with a killer pair of heels gives off the ‘I-didn’t-try-but-still-look-amazing” vibe. The harem-esque drawstring H&M jeans gave the look a boyish feel, but the low-cut tank and Y-3 heels add some fierce feminine flair. The oversize J. Lindberg denim shirt added a totally different texture thanks to the acid-wash detail, and the polo beanie topped the look off with a bit of mechanic zest.”

A self-proclaimed style chameleon, she’ll rock Miu Miu’s and a Goyard bag one day, and an entire thrifted wardrobe the next. See the full look and more of her looks on Jinna’s blog, Grease and Glamour.

From Madrid, with Style

Rising style star and fashion blogger Juan Cocco, who launched his blog while living in Madrid and has recently re-located to Reykjavik, Iceland. His outfits often incorporate denim from the basic, classic cool to innovative. He took a minute to share some denim-related insight with us in his quick interview.

Denim Therapy: What are your favorite denim brands?

Juan Cocco: Levi’s has always been one of my favorites. Also, Cheap Monday jeans are awesome and fit very well. Lastly, Topman does jeans well.

DT: What are some of the best places to shop for denim products in Madrid and Reykjavik?

JC: I’ve only been living in Reykjavik for a few months, so I can’t answer properly, but in Madrid, my favorite shops are “Sportivo” and “Mini”. They have a wide range of brands that you’re bound to love immediately.

DT: If you shop for vintage denim, what qualities do you look for?

JC: Vintage or not, it must look cool and fit according to your personality.

DT: Any comments about denim’s role in fashion right now in general?

JC: Denim is always trendy. It is fascinating how every year it appears in catwalks, renewed and providing fashion with new meaning. And the greatest thing is, denim can be combined with just about every single other kind of fabric or garment.
